Abstract: A method of accessing data stored in a storage disk of a storage system includes the steps of receiving a read operation to a sector of the storage disk and in response to an error returned from the read operation, determining whether the sector is to be replaced. If the sector is determined to be replaced, the method further includes replacing the sector with a spare sector. The data previously stored at the replaced disk sector are reconstructed and written to the spare sector, and the LBA assigned to the replaced sector is reassigned to the PBA associated with the spare sector.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing automated operations to enable first-failure data capture functionality during initialization of multiple lockstep processors. Following a hardware reset of two lockstep processors, an indication is received of one or more crosscheck errors regarding the operation of the two lockstep processors. In response to the crosscheck errors, crosscheck first-failure data capture (FFDC) data is saved to one or more memory areas that are persistent across a hardware reset, and it is determined whether a predefined reset threshold has been satisfied. Responsive to determining that the predefined reset threshold has been satisfied, the crosscheck FFDC data from the one or more persistent memory areas is analyzed and one or more crosscheck initialization codes are responsively generated. An additional hardware reset is initiated.

Abstract: Technologies for virtual multipath access include a computing device configured to sequester a recovery partition from a host partition while allowing the recovery partition to access one or more resources of the host partition such as host memory or data storage. A remote computing device determines whether the host partition is responsive. The recovery partition receives a request for host state data of the host partition from the remote computing device in response to a determination that the host partition is not responsive. The recovery partition retrieves the requested host state data using a host state index maintained by the host partition and transmits the requested host state data to the remote computing device. The host state index may identify the location of the requested host state data. The remote computing device may perform a recovery operation based on the received host state data. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A snapshot of a distributed ledger is generated, wherein the distributed ledger is stored by a plurality of node computing entities. A first node computing entity reads current states of one or more domain objects from a local cache stored by the node computing entity and corresponding to an application operating on the node computing entity. A snapshot record comprising the current states of the one or more domain objects is generated and written to a segment data file. The snapshot record is posted to the distributed ledger as part of a block.

Abstract: A method for automatically prioritizing startup of resource groups during a migration event. The method may include monitoring resource usage of a first and a second set of applications associated, respectively, with a first and a second resource group executing on a first computing node. The method may additionally include generating respective first and second resource usage models for the first and second resource groups based on resource usage. The method may then include extrapolating, based on the first and second resource usage models, respective first and second resource group usage scores for the first and second resource groups at a second time in response to a migration event, the second time occurring subsequent to the first time. The method may further include determining, based on the extrapolating, a priority order for serially starting the first and second set of applications on a second computing node at the second time.

Abstract: A method of allowing egress network frames to bypass the buffer requirement of a checkpoint system. In one embodiment, the method includes the steps of examining a frame, or its attributes, to determine if it is a “candidate frame” and if the frame is a candidate frame, allowing it to be released to the external network without an intervening checkpoint. In another embodiment, the candidate frame is one of a group comprising: any frame targeting a designated network interface; any frame of a designated protocol type; any frame sourced or destined from/to a designated address. In still another embodiment, the method includes the designation of scheduling follow-up checkpoints according to frame disposition to limit or reduce the effects of a fail-over (roll-back) disturbance.

Abstract: A selection device is selected from a first group in a first cluster. The node devices of the first group can communicate with a node device in a second cluster adjacent to the first cluster. The selection device performs transmission and reception of a report frame that reports an identifier of a node device included in the first group. The selection device selects from the first group a first relay device that relays a relay frame used for a communication between a node device in the first cluster and a node device in the second cluster. The first relay device determines anode device adjacent to the first relay device to be a second relay device that relays the relay frame to a node device in the second cluster.
