    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a mounting portion on which an external memory device is mountable, a detecting unit that detects mounting or non-mounting of the external memory device to the mounting portion, a printing unit that prints data acquired from the external memory device, a memory unit that stores the data, and a controller. The controller is operable to control the printing unit to reprint the data stored on the memory unit, and prohibit the data from being reprinted when a detection result by the detecting unit indicates non-mounting of the external memory device.

    Abstract: An image processing system includes an image processing apparatus and a decryption server interconnected via a network. When a portable recording medium having an encrypted target file and access information to access a decryption server that decrypts this encrypted target file, recorded therein, is connected to a connector of an image processing apparatus, the image processing apparatus reads out the encrypted target file and the access information from the portable recording medium connected thereto, accesses the decryption server according to the access information, then transmits the encrypted target file to the decryption server. The decryption server decrypts the encrypted target file received therefrom, and returns it to the image processing apparatus. The image processing apparatus executes processing on the decrypted target file that is returned therefrom.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for mobile device directed multifunction peripheral scanning to cloud are disclosed. The method includes receiving a document processing request at a multifunction peripheral including instructions on performing a document processing operation, a cloud storage request identifying a document to be stored in a remote cloud storage location and credentials sufficient to authenticate a user to the cloud storage location and accessing the cloud storage location using the multifunction peripheral to confirm that the credentials are sufficient to authenticate a user to the cloud storage location before beginning the document processing request. The method further includes completing the document processing request using the multifunction peripheral to thereby generate a processed document and storing the processed document in the cloud storage location directly from the multifunction peripheral device using the credentials.

    Abstract: A method for automatic display of a spread in ebooks is revealed. The method includes several steps. First scan at least one paper book by a scanner to get at least one original page file with at least two original pages. Then execute a transcription suite in a computing device for transcribing the original page file into an e-book and write at least one spread event into at least one electronic page of the e-book by an input device. Next use a reader to read the e-book. The reader triggers the spread event while reading the electronic page written with the spread event. Thus the reader automatically retrieves and displays at least two electronic pages on a monitor of the reader simultaneously. Therefore the spread covering at least two electronic pages is automatically displayed on a monitor of the reader.
