Abstract:
Each positioning mark comprises a plurality of mark elements. The mark elements are adapted to be individually determined for their respective positions and configurations. A reference point of the positioning mark is located on the basis of data obtained by determining respective positions and configurations of the mark elements.
Abstract:
For automatic population of printed circuit boards, automatic populating machines frequently need to be able to detect different population variants. This invention describes a simple and reliable process for identifying printed circuit boards to clearly distinguish between population variants within a production run comprising several population processes. According to this invention, a printed circuit board features termination nests for at least one encoding component, and with an encoding aperture being provided in these termination nest areas that can be closed by the aforementioned encoding component. Thus two population variants can be encoded, that is, a first variant where the printed circuit board will be part-populated without such an encoding component in its first population run, and a second variant where the printed circuit board will be part-populated with this encoding component in its first population run.
Abstract:
A system for manufacturing a hybrid integrated circuit by mounting an IC and a chip component on a circuit substrate. The system comprises a bar code reader for reading the characteristic data of each IC shown previously thereon to indicate the characteristic thereof, and a selector for selecting an optimal chip component in accordance with the read characteristic of the IC, thereby achieving manufacture of a satisfactory hybrid integrated circuit having predetermined performance.
Abstract:
Thermally stable, solvent resistant labels comprising a face stock made of a high temperature resistant polymeric film having a print-receptive coating on its top surface, a curable, pressure-sensitive elastomeric adhesive containing at least one polymer having an acrylonitrile unit in the polymer chain and at least one phenolic resin applied to the bottom surface of the face stock, and a silicone release medium coated carrier liner releasably bonded to the elastomeric adhesive. When applied to a substrate, the labels adhere to the substrate, have minimum flow characteristics, maintain printed matter legibility and optical scannability after being heated to a temperature of less than about 600.degree. F. and immersion in chemical baths of halogenated organic solvent solutions for periods as long as 10 minutes. Printed matter may be impressed upon the print-receptive coating of the label. Methods of producing and curing thermally stable, solvent resistant labels are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method of feeding information into data processing means of an automatic galvanizing installation about articles to be treated, includes the fixing of the information onto each article before the article is supplied to the installation. In the charging station of the installation, the applied information is read by a hand-operated, commercially available data reader.
Abstract:
A system and method for marking components of an assembly and/or portions of an assembly including at least one of the components with a plurality of markers, each component and/or portion including its own marker or markers, to be read in an operational sequence so as to generate at least one identifier representative of a characteristic and/or feature of the assembly. Any marker can be a certain type of marker, the combination of which can be used to generate an identifier. A certain type of marker 1 need not be dedicated to a certain component. Each marker can be associated with a proxy value, which can be obtained by reading the marker with a reader. An identifier of the assembly can then be generated by employing a predetermined sequence of reading the markers.
Abstract:
Identifying marks are often used for authentication and tracking purposes with various types of articles, but they can sometimes be subject to replication or removal by an outside entity, such as a person or group having malicious intent. Carbon nanotubes and other carbon nanomaterials can be used to form identifying marks that are not visible to the naked eye, thereby making the marks more difficult for an outside entity to tamper with. Various articles can include an identifying mark that is not visible to the naked eye, the identifying mark containing a nanomaterial that includes a plurality of carbon nanotubes with a registered distribution of chiralities. The registered distribution of chiralities can be further tailored to increase the level of security provided by the mark.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of final defect inspection, including preparing a final defect inspection apparatus which includes a host device, a microscope, a bar code scanner, a support tool and a signal transceiver, using the host device to calibrate an original point in an outline of the circuit board based on a plurality of original mark positions generated by an electromagnetic pen, using the electromagnetic pen to mark each defect position on the inspection region on the circuit board where any defect is found through the microscope, using the signal transceiver to receive and transmit each defect position to the host device, and using the host device to calculate the coordinate of a scrap region based on a relative position between the original point and each defect position so as to generate a shipment file.
