Abstract:
Triglyceride oils and fuel compositions derived therefrom are disclosed. In some embodiments the novel oils contain levels of medium chain fatty acids such as those having chain lengths of 8, 10, 12, and 14 carbon atoms. Also disclosed are biodiesel and alkane diesel fuels derived from the novel oils. Byproduct animal feeds from the process of manufacturing the novel oils are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Formulations using tartaric compounds of the present invention in a low sulfur, low ash and low phosphorous lubricant lower wear, and friction and improves fuel economy.
Abstract:
Aviation-grade kerosene comprising a first blendstock derived from non-petroleum feedstock and comprising primarily hydrocarbons selected from the group consisting of isoparaffins and normal paraffins, and a second blendstock comprising primarily hydrocarbons selected from the group consisting of cycloalkanes and aromatics.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for the production of at least one fatty acid and/or oil from a plant cell suspension culture, the method comprising (i) maintaining a cell suspension culture of oil-producing plant cells under conditions such that the cultured cells synthesise and secrete at least one fatty acid and/or oil into the cell suspension culture medium; and (ii) extracting the thus secreted at least one fatty acid and/or oil from the cell suspension culture medium.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for carrying out pyrolysis in such manner that a first raw material is fed to a combustion boiler and a second raw material is fed to a pyrolysis reactor which are integrated together, energy fractions are formed from the raw material in the combustion boiler and gaseous and liquid product fractions are formed from the raw material in the pyrolysis reactor by fast pyrolysis. According to the invention, production of the pyrolysis product and energy fractions is controlled by optimizing the selection of the raw material, product distribution and production costs, value and quality of at least one product fraction by varying the process variables, which are selected from the group comprising a first raw material, a second raw material, quantities of the raw materials, selection of additional materials, process parameters, selection of an additional process step, composition and quantity of the carrier gas used, quantity of oxygen, selection of the heat transfer agent and moisture content of the raw material.
Abstract:
Gasoline compositions are provided comprising component A, an alkyl alkenoate compound, or a mixture of alkyl alkenoate compounds, selected from compounds of formula I: wherein R1 is a linear alkenyl group containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms, optionally substituted by a methyl group, and R2 is a linear or branched alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, with the proviso that component A has a boiling point or boiling point range within the temperature range of from 90 to 200° C., and at least one additional selected component.
Abstract:
Liquid suspensions are disclosed comprising a suspending medium, small particles of biomass, and small particles of an inorganic material. The inorganic material stabilizes the suspension, so that it may be transported by pipeline or tank car without developing a sediment. The suspension may be used in manufacturing a bio-fuel.
Abstract:
Methods for preserving technical products such as fuels and lubricants with a microbicidal composition. The composition is made up of at least one formaldehyde donor compound and at least one antioxidant. The antioxidant is either a gallic ester, a phenol derivative, a L-ascorbic acid, including salts and derivatives thereof, a tocopherol or one of its associated derivatives.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel mutant thioesterase enzymes and naturally-occurring equivalents thereof, compositions made from such enzymes and uses of thioesterase enzymes. In particular, the present invention provides mutant thioesterase enzymes that have altered properties, for example, altered substrate specificity, altered activity, altered selectivity, and/or altered proportional yields in the product mixtures. The present invention also provides polynucleotides encoding such mutant thioesterase enzymes, and vectors and host cells comprising such polynucleotides. The invention further provides for novel uses of thioesterases in the production of various fatty acid derivatives, which are useful as, or as components of, industrial chemicals and fuels.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods for correcting fuel oil compositions having excess conductivity. The oil compositions comprise a Petroleum Based Component, a Conductivity additive and a Conductivity Correcting Additive.
