Abstract: A catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx comprises a zeolitic material which comprises (A) one or more zeolites having a GME framework structure containing YO2 and X2O3, and optionally further comprises one or more zeolites having a CHA framework structure containing YO2 and X2O3, and/or comprises, (B) one or more zeolite intergrowth phases of one or more zeolites having a GME framework structure containing YO2 and X2O3 and one or more zeolites having a CHA framework structure containing YO2 and X2O3, wherein Y is a tetravalent element, and X is a trivalent element, and the zeolitic material contains Cu and/or Fe as non-framework elements in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 15 wt. % calculated as the element and based on 100 wt. % of YO contained in the zeolitic material. Also provided are a process for its preparation, and a use in a method for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides binder compositions formed with a plurality of binder materials having differing mean particles, the binder compositions being useful to improve washcoat adhesion on a substrate. Adhesion can be improved related to an increase in the binder concentration without a significant or substantial increase in associated viscosity. Such binder compositions can comprise a first binder material formed of a plurality of particles having a first mean particle size and a second binder material formed of a plurality of particles having a second mean particle size, wherein a ratio of the first mean particle size to the second mean particle size about 2 or greater. The present disclosure further provides catalyst compositions, catalyst articles, and emission systems incorporating the binder compositions.

Abstract: A lean gasoline exhaust treatment catalyst article is provided, the article comprising a catalytic material applied on a substrate, wherein the catalytic material comprises a first composition and a second composition, wherein the first and second compositions are present in a layered or zoned configuration, the first composition comprising palladium impregnated onto a porous refractory metal oxide material and rhodium impregnated onto a porous refractory metal oxide material; and the second composition comprising platinum impregnated onto a porous refractory metal oxide material. Methods of making and using such catalyst articles and the associated compositions and systems employing such catalyst articles are also described.

Abstract: The invention provides an emission control system for treatment of an exhaust gas stream of an engine, including an engine producing an exhaust gas stream; an SCR catalyst unit downstream from the engine and in fluid communication with the exhaust gas stream; and an ammonia generation system comprising a reservoir containing ammonium hydroxide and an ammonia injector, wherein the reservoir is in fluid communication with the ammonia injector and the ammonia injector is in fluid communication with the exhaust gas stream upstream of the SCR catalyst unit. A method of treating an exhaust gas stream of an engine is also provided, including the steps of heating ammonium hydroxide to produce gaseous ammonia and transferring the gaseous ammonia through an ammonia injector into the exhaust gas stream such that the gaseous ammonia disperses within the exhaust gas stream upstream of a SCR catalyst unit.

Abstract: The invention provides a catalyst article including a substrate underlying a multi-layer catalyst composition and a multi-layer catalyst composition comprising a first layer and a second layer, the first layer positioned between the substrate and the second layer, wherein the first layer comprises a first porous refractory oxide material impregnated with at least one base metal component and the second layer comprises a second porous refractory oxide material impregnated with at least one platinum group metal. Either the second porous refractory oxide material is a porous refractory oxide material other than alumina or the catalyst composition further comprises an intermediate layer between the first layer and the second layer, the intermediate layer comprising a refractory oxide material other than alumina. Methods of making and using the catalyst article are also provided, as well as emission treatment systems comprising the catalyst article.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to copper-containing molecular sieve catalysts that are highly suitable for the treatment of exhaust containing NOx pollutants. The copper-containing molecular sieve catalysts contain ion-exchanged copper as Cu+2 and Cu(OH)+1, and DRIFT spectroscopy of the catalyst exhibits perturbed T-O-T vibrational peaks corresponding to the Cu+2 and Cu(OH)+1. In spectra taken of the catalytic materials, a ratio of the Cu+2 to the Cu(OH)+1 peak integration areas preferably can be ≥1. The copper-containing molecular sieve catalysts are aging stable such that the peak integration area percentage of the Cu+2 peak (area Cu+2/(area Cu+2+area Cu(OH)+1)) increases by ≤20% upon aging at 800° C. for 16 hours in the presence of 10% H2O/air, compared to the fresh state.
