Abstract: In the present disclosure, there are provided a vinyl alcohol-based copolymer including a first repeating unit derived from an olefin, a second repeating unit containing a hydroxyl group, and a third repeating unit containing a cyanoalkyloxy group formed by a reaction of the repeating unit containing a hydroxyl group and an unsaturated nitrile-based compound, wherein the third repeating unit is included in an amount of 2 mol % or more and less than 10 mol % with respect to 100 mol % of a total amount of the second repeating unit and the third repeating unit; a method for preparing the same; and a gas barrier film including the same. The vinyl alcohol-based copolymer has excellent moisture stability, thereby exhibiting excellent gas barrier properties even in a humid environment.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a thermoset omniphobic composition (such as an omniphobic polyurethane or epoxy composition) which includes a thermoset polymer with first, second, and third backbone segments. The first, second, and third backbone segments can correspond to urethane or urea reaction products of polyisocyanate(s), amine-functional omniphobic polymer(s), and polyol(s), respectively, for omniphobic polyurethanes. Similarly, the first, second, and third backbone segments can correspond to urea or beta-hydroxy amine reaction products of polyamine(s), isocyanate-functional omniphobic polymer(s), and polyepoxide(s), respectively, for omniphobic epoxies. The thermoset omniphobic composition has favorable omniphobic properties, for example as characterized by water and/or oil contact and/or sliding angles. The thermoset omniphobic composition further has favorable barrier properties, for example with respect to water vapor and oxygen transmission as well as water absorption. The thermoset omniphobic composition can be used as a coating on any of a variety of substrates to provide omniphobic properties to a surface of the substrate. Such omniphobic coatings can be scratch resistant, ink/paint resistant, and optically clear.

Abstract: Two-component epoxy-based liquid formulations and their resultant dual use epoxy-based products. The epoxy-based liquid formulations include a liquid epoxy resin composition mixed with a liquid epoxy curing agent composition. The liquid epoxy resin compositions include one or more liquid epoxy resins containing a reactive oxirane structure or epoxide group, while the liquid epoxy curing agent composition comprises one or more epoxy curing agents. The liquid epoxy resin and liquid epoxy curing agent compositions are mixed together to provide a dual functioning epoxy-based formulation that, when applied to a substrate and cured, provides a cured three-dimensional cross-linked thermoset dual acting epoxy-based product having both the moisture vapor barrier and the primer functionalities.

Abstract: The invention discloses a preparation method of highly transparent self-adhesive PBAT cling film. The raw materials include PBAT, ACR, glycerin, and glycerin fatty acid ester; the preparation methods include mixing, preparing pellets, film blowing, and film winding. In the invention, ACR is added into PBAT resin, which increases the ductility, shrinkage property and flatness of winding of PBAT cling films; glycerin can improve the extrusion stability, softness and adhesion properties of PBAT cling films; glycerin fatty acid ester can improve the anti-fog property of PBAT cling films; meanwhile, glycerin and glycerin fatty acid can play a synergistic role to further enhance the anti-fog property of PBAT cling films. The PBAT cling film prepared by the invention has superior physical property, high transparency, high adhesion property, high shrinkage property, smooth flatness of winding free of wrinkles and good air permeability.

Abstract: Barrier films are prepared from a blend of two high density polyethylene blend components and a high performance organic nucleating agent. The two high density polyethylene blend components have substantially different melt indices. Large reductions in the moisture vapor transmission rate of the film are observed in the presence of the nucleating agent when the melt indices of the two blend components have a ratio of greater than 10/1. The resulting barrier films are suitable for the preparation of packaging for dry foods such as crackers and breakfast cereals.
