    Abstract: A self-wrapping, textile sleeve for routing and protecting elongate members from exposure to abrasion, thermal and other environmental conditions and method on construction thereof. The sleeve has an elongate wall constructed from interlaced yarns having interstices between adjacent yarns. At least one of the yarns is heat formed at one temperature to form the wall as a self-wrapping wall curling about a longitudinal axis of the sleeve. The wall has an inner surface providing a generally tubular cavity in which the elongate members are received. The wall also has an outer surface with a cured layer thereon. The cured layer is cured at the one temperature at which the yarns are heat formed into their self-wrapping configuration, wherein the cured layer fills the interstices between adjunct yarns to form an impervious layer on the wall.

    Abstract: A flexible abrasion resistant water shedding omnidirectionally reflective rope has a central low-density polymeric closed cell foam core comprising EPDM, Neoprene, SBR, NBR, EVA, PVC, PVC/NBR foam surrounded by cylindrically braided sleeve of reflective strips composed of narrow width reflective strips that comprise a woven or knitted narrow width strip and a flexible nylon retroreflective sheet sewn thereon and covered with abrasion resistant water shedding coating. The flexible retroreflective sheet is formed by thermally bonding corner cube, microsphere retroreflectors, or wide angle exposed retroreflective lenses to a flexible polymeric sheet. Due to its low-density foam core construction, the reflective rope floats on water and sheds water from the surface preserving omnidirectional reflectivity. The rope reflects light omnidirectionally over a large angle of acceptance and provides accurate illumination of the rope floating in water, location of a rope wound buoy and the like when used during dusk, fog or nighttime hours.

    Abstract: An eye-and-eye sling in which the protective cover for an endless loop load bearing sling core is not provided with extraneous layers along the body of the sling that extends between the sling eyes. In the inventive sling, first and second loop segments of the load bearing core which are generally diametrically disposed are respectively encased within first and second seamless tubular eye covers. These loop segments and eye covers form the eye portions of the eye-and-eye sling. The spanning portions of the endless loop that are not covered by the eye covers are encased within a common seamless tubular body cover. The body cover and spanning loop segments generally form the body portion of the sling that extends between the sling eyes. The present invention also provides a bridle having an integral master ring and protective covers for the bridal legs in which excessive layers of cover material are avoided.

    Abstract: An endless textile sling for lifting. The sling includes a textile protective cover having a first textile tube, and a second textile tube within the first textile tube to form a double tube structure. The first tube and the second tube are connected together along two respective oppositely positioned longitudinal edges to form an inner sheath and an outer sheath. The sling further includes a load-carrying core within the second textile tube. The core includes a plurality of endless fiber strands. The sling is provided with a plurality of binding elements positioned between the two longitudinal edges and connecting the inner and outer sheaths together. The inner and outer sheaths are separated by a space. The binding elements partition the space into mutually separated chambers. The binding elements include one of a binding warp, a tie-in and an interlaced connection.

    Abstract: Flexible tension member includes a helical bundle of substantially identical elongate elements. Each element inside the bundle is in contact with six adjacent elements, and the lay length of the helical bundle is at least 30 times its diameter.
