Abstract: Provided are a light source apparatus and an inspection apparatus that can stably output a wavelength converted light beam. A light source apparatus includes a laser light source that generates a first fundamental light beam, at least one nonlinear optical crystal that generates a wavelength converted light beam using the fundamental light beam or a harmonic laser beam of the fundamental light beam as an incident light beam, a detector that detects the wavelength converted light beam, an acousto-optic modulator that is disposed in an optical path of the incident light beam in such a way that a zero-order light beam enters the nonlinear optical crystal, and a controller that controls an output intensity of the wavelength converted light beam according to a detection signal from the detector.

Abstract: A scanning system for fluorescent imaging includes a sample holder configured to hold a sample therein, the sample holder defining a sample holding region. A scanner head spans the sample holding region and is movable relative to the sample holder. An array of light sources is disposed on an opposing side of the sample holder and is angled relative thereto. Respective controller are operably coupled to the scanner head and the array of light sources, wherein one controller selectively actuates a one or more rows of the array of light sources and another controller controls movement of the scanner head to capture fluorescent light emitted from within the sample holder in response to illumination from the actuated light sources. A filter designed to filter out scattered light from the sample may be interposed between the sample holder and the scanner head.

Abstract: An ELISPOT method of in vitro diagnosis of tuberculosis includes enriching or separating liquid blood fraction from its cellular components including visualizing immunocompetent cells by detecting different dyes and using at least two different filter sets, each including one narrowband excitation filter and one narrowband blocking filter, wherein the narrowband excitation filter is transmissive for light provided for luminescent excitation of a respective dye and the narrowband blocking filter is transmissive for light emitted by a respective dye and measuring the number of immunocompetent cells that secrete at least interferon-γ and interleukin-2 as a reaction to an antigen by superimposing at least two two-dimensional images generated during visualization to avoid luminescence of different dyes interfering and strong luminescence being superimposed on weak luminescence.

Abstract: A rotatable compensator configured to transmit non-collimated light over a broad range of wavelengths, including ultraviolet, with a high degree of retardation uniformity across the aperture is presented. In one embodiment, a rotatable compensator includes a stack of four individual plates in optical contact. The two thin plates in the middle of the stack are made from a birefringent material and are arranged to form a compound, zeroth order bi-plate. The remaining two plates are relatively thick and are made from an optically isotropic material. These plates are disposed on either end of the compound, zeroth order bi-plate. The low order plates minimize the sensitivity of retardation across the aperture to non-collimated light. Materials are selected to ensure transmission of ultraviolet light. The optically isotropic end plates minimize coherence effects induced at the optical interfaces of the thin plates.
