Abstract: This invention relates to coating apparatus of the type in which an article to be coated is immersed in a main fluidized bed of the coating material. At least one supplementary fluidized bed is provided which contains a supply of additional coating material, the level of the supplementary bed being capable of being raised to a level above that of the main bed whereby additional coating material is transferred from the supplementary bed to the main bed to replenish the coating material therein. Once the desired level has been achieved, the level of the supplementary bed is lowered and any surplus coating material is arranged to fall back into the supplementary bed.

Abstract: An improved furnace boat has been developed for the epitaxial solution growth of III-V compounds. The boat comprises one or more closed compartments wherein the growth solution or solutions are located, in combination with a sliding substrate support member at the base of the solution compartments, such that the substrate wafer can be moved quickly and easily into contact with, or out of contact with, the growth solution. The technique permits optimum surface protection of the substrate prior to immersion, removal of the slice at any time increment of the growth and/or cooling cycle, and will ensure complete removal of gallium solution from the grown surface without damage to the surface.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispersing liquids over the surfaces of objects comprises a tray having a plurality of receptacles provided therein for receiving the liquid, and handles at the ends thereof for rotating the tray. A plurality of covers are disposed over each of the receptacles to form a liquid-tight container for treating the objects. Articles are supported, spaced from the container walls by a small plurality of widely spaced rib elements having free edges of minimal cross-section which extend from the inner surface of each cover and associated receptacle.
