Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are provided for an embedded, scalable, predictive tool capable of detecting in-field anomalies and trends in advance of productivity losses on single devices, device clusters, and/or multi-cluster architectures. In-field and in real-time, sets of barcode signal sequences associated with respective barcode symbols are collected in time series (that is, at successive time intervals). A quality index measure in computed for each of the barcode signal sequence sets such that each quality index measure is associated with a barcode symbol. Patterns among the sets are identified therefrom and compared to barcode symbol patterns that are known to be associated with particular trends or anomalies and appropriately classified as such.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention are implemented with a mobile camera and safety laser scanner. A mobile computer can be used to show a visible infrared beam on the display of the mobile computer. The mobile computer can function as a safety tool to identify regions or locations where a laser beam might penetrate. The mobile computer can determine if the laser beam has penetrated a safety region or zone. Sensors can be used to determine when a laser beam may become dangerously close to an operator, especially with the use of automated guided vehicle that is moving around and has a scanning laser.

Abstract: A laser scanner which includes a light source which emits a light beam and a scanning mirror rotatable about an axis which reflects the light beam through a tilted protective window toward a scanning area and which directs return light from objects toward receiving optics. The laser scanner may include a collecting mirror which receives the return light, and an interference filter disposed between the collecting mirror and the scanning mirror. The window may include an anti-reflective coating which reduces reflection of internally scattered light. The tilted window may direct the reflective component of internally scattered light into a zone where an energy light absorber is present. A bulkhead system which may include a separation baffle may be provided to prevent light incident on the interference filter at an angle which is below an acceptance angle of the interference filter.

Abstract: A mounting assembly and method that utilize Hall effect sensors to detect orientation and insertion of a portable device in a base are provided. Hall effect sensors positioned on one of a portable device and a base are arranged to interact with one or more magnets positioned on the other of the portable device or the base such that a change in proximity of at least one of the magnets to at least one of the sensors will cause the sensor to output a voltage signal that differs depending on the nearness of the magnet. Depending on at least one of the magnitude of the signal, the profile of the signal over time, and the identity of the sensor that output the signal, it is determined whether the orientation of the portable device in the base is correct and/or if the portable device is fully inserted in the base.

Abstract: A clutter filter configuration tool for a safety laser scanner. The clutter filter configuration tool may first operate the safety laser scanner in an environment to learn the environmental clutter level and present the same to a user. Subsequent to this “teach-in” phase, the configuration tool may provide a clutter filter selection process which presents the environmental clutter level to the user and allows the user to select a suitable configuration for a clutter filter. The configuration tool may also provide a clutter filter simulation process wherein the clutter filter chosen by the user is verified and a test is performed using the selected clutter filter. The results may be reported on a visualized graph. The configuration tool may also determine a real area to be monitored utilizing a floor projection area and an orientation of the laser scanner.

Abstract: Device (100) for reading coded information, comprising a first optical group (10) including a first light source and first focusing means in optical alignment with said light source along an optical axis (X), and at least one further optical group including a further light source and further focusing means in optical alignment with the further light source along an optical axis (X1) parallel to the optical axis (X). The first optical group (10) and the further optical group (20) are housed in a single one-piece block (50) obtained through a single mechanical processing that, preferably, is a machine tool processing. The number of components of the reading device is thus reduced and the calibration operations necessary to achieve the desired optical alignment between light sources and with the respective focusing means are simplified and automated. Consequently, the costs of material and qualified workers are reduced, as is the time needed to calibrate the reading device.

Abstract: A device for illuminating a portion of a hand-held scanner to indicate a status of the scanner provides an even distribution of light emission. The device might include various elements that facilitate an even distribution of the light. For instance, in one aspect the device includes a set of reflective surfaces that are positioned throughout the scanner together with light-emitting devices (e.g., LED) in a manner to evenly transmit light emissions. In another aspect, the device includes a light-diffusing translucent member, which smoothly and evenly presents the light emissions that are reflected off of the reflective surfaces.
