Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes a flexible holder retaining a plurality of probes. The flexible holder is deformable to arrange the probes around a portion of a structure, allowing the probes to scan the portion of the structure. At least one of the plurality of probes is an ultrasonic test (UT) probe to scan the portion of the structure with ultrasonic waves.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems are provided for using laser ablation to manufacture nanoparticles. An example method includes steps of generating, by a laser beam generator, a laser beam, splitting, by a set of beam splitters, the laser beam into a plurality of derivative laser beams, and directing each derivative laser beam towards a plurality of targets. In this example method, the plurality of targets are submerged in corresponding synthesis solvents within corresponding synthesis chambers. Moreover, interaction of each derivative laser beam with its corresponding target releases nanoparticles into the corresponding synthesis solvent to create a nanoparticle solution including both the corresponding synthesis solvent and the released nanoparticles.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are modified zeolites and methods for making modified zeolites. In one or more embodiments disclosed herein, a modified zeolite may include a microporous framework including a plurality of micropores having diameters of less than or equal to 2 nm. The microporous framework may include at least silicon atoms and oxygen atoms. The modified zeolite may further include organometallic moieties each bonded to bridging oxygen atoms. The organometallic moieties may include a platinum atom. The platinum atom may be bonded to a bridging oxygen atom, and the bridging oxygen atom may bridge the platinum atom of the organometallic moiety and a silicon atom of the microporous framework.

Abstract: A robotic vehicle for traversing surfaces comprises a chassis having a plurality of wheels mounted thereto. Two magnetic drive wheels are spaced apart in a lateral direction and rotate about a rotational axis while a stabilizing wheel is provided in front of or behind the two drive wheels. The drive wheels are configured to be driven independently, thereby driving and steering the vehicle along the surface. The vehicle also includes a sensor probe assembly that is supported by the chassis and configured to take measurements of the surface being traversed. In accordance with a salient aspect, the vehicle includes a probe normalization mechanism that is configured to determine the surface curvature and adjust the orientation of the probe transducer as a function of the curvature of the surface, thereby maintaining the probe at the preferred inspection angle irrespective of changes in the surface curvature with vehicle movement.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe diapocarotenoid plant growth regulators represented by formula (I): R-A-R (I) or a precursor, salt, solvate, stereoisomer or polymorph thereof; wherein R is a monovalent carbonyl moiety selected from the group consisting of aldehydes, ethers, diethers, carboxylic acids, alcohols, and ester carboxylates and A is a bivalent polyene represented by the bivalent moiety —(CRa═CRb)x—, wherein x is the number of double bonds in polyene moiety A, and Ra and Rb are, independently, hydrogen, a hydrocarbon, or an alkoxy group, and composition of the diapocarotenoid plant growth regulators in an agronomically acceptable carrier. Methods of regulating plant growth including promoting root development, increasing nutrient uptake, enhancing resistance to abiotic stress factors, invigorating plant growth, increasing plant yield, and increasing plant biomass by applying at least one diapocarotenoid plant growth regulator to a seed, plant propagation material, plant or plant growth medium are also described.
