Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to an apparatus, method and other techniques to determine a threshold value of power for a fundamental function for a device, determine whether a current power level of a power source is equal to or less than the threshold value for the fundamental function. Further, and in response to determining the current power level is less than or equal to the threshold value, prohibit operation of an extended function, and in response to determining the current power level is not less than or equal to the threshold value, permit operation of the extended function.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus relating to IoT (Internet of Things) and/or cloud enabled faster ambulances are described. In an embodiment, an IoT device overrides an operating state of an illumination device based at least in part on a wireless signal that indicates approachment of a moving object. The IoT device then cancels the override of the operating state of the illumination device based at least in part on an indication that the moving object has crossed a location of the illumination device. In one embodiment, cloud-based logic determines whether and/or when the IoT device causes the override of the operating state of the illumination device. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

Abstract: In one example a power management module comprises logic, at least partially including hardware logic, to detect a disconnection on at least one signaling contact in a receptacle prior to a disconnection on the at least one power contact in the receptacle, wherein the receptacle is adapted to mate with a plug, the receptacle comprising a plurality of electrical contacts including at least one power contact to connect with a power pin on the plug and at least one signaling contact to connect with a signaling pin on the plug and in response to the disconnection on the signaling contact, to switch a processor to a low power state prior to a disconnect between the at least one power contact in the receptacle and the power pin on the plug. Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device, such as a notebook computer, laptop, or tablet that includes a circuit board coupled to a plurality of electronic components (which may include any type of components, elements, circuitry, etc.). One particular example implementation of a docking base comprises a base housing including at least one alignment pin disposed within the base housing. Each of the at least one alignment pin is configured to engage a corresponding alignment pin receptacle of a device housing of an electronic device. The base housing further includes an attachment mechanism coupled to the at least one first alignment pin, wherein the attachment mechanism is configured to cause the at least one first alignment pin to extend at least partially from the base housing when the device housing is within a predetermined proximity of the base housing.
