    Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to video coding and particularly to intra block copy coding mode using wedgelet partitioning. For example, a method is disclosed for processing video data which may include receiving a video bitstream comprising a current block of a video frame; extracting an IntraBC flag from the video bitstream indicating that the current block is predicted under an IntraBC mode; determining from the video bitstream that the current block is partitioned under a wedgelet partitioning mode, wherein the current block is partitioned into a plurality of partitions comprising a first partition and a second partition; identifying at least the first partition and the second partition of the current block; determining a first block vector for predicting the first partition and a second block vector for predicting the second partition, respectively; and decoding the current block based on at least the first block vector and second block vector.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates signaling of adaptive resolution for motion vector difference in video encoding and decoding. An example method is disclosed decoding one or more video blocks of a video stream. The method may include receiving the video stream; extracting an inter-prediction syntax element from the video stream to determine whether an ADAPTMV mode is signaled for one or more video blocks, the ADAPTMV mode being a single-reference inter-prediction mode with adaptive motion vector difference (MVD) pixel resolution; determining a current MVD pixel resolution associated with the one or more video blocks abased on whether the ADAPTMV mode is signaled in the inter-prediction syntax element; and extracting and decoding one or more MVD-related syntax elements associated with the one or more video blocks based on whether the ADAPTMV mode is signaled in the inter-prediction syntax element and the current MVD pixel resolution.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method, an apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for video decoding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry configured to reconstruct an area in a block in a current picture from a coded video bitstream. The block includes one or more coding blocks (CBs) in the current picture. After the reconstructing, the processing circuitry determines whether to update a previous local reference range for an intra block copy (IBC) mode based on a content of the reconstructed area and/or prediction information of the reconstructed area. In response to a determination not to update the previous local reference range for the IBC mode, the previous local reference range for the IBC mode is not updated. The processing circuitry decodes a coding block in the current picture using the IBC mode that is based on the previous local reference range, which does not include the reconstructed area.

    Abstract: A method for video encoding includes determining an intra prediction angle for encoding a current block in a coded video sequence, the intra prediction angle being (i) beyond a bottom left direction diagonal mode, or (ii) beyond a top right direction diagonal mode. The method further includes determining an intra prediction mode corresponding to the intra prediction angle used to encode the current block based on a predetermined relationship between a plurality of intra prediction modes and a corresponding plurality of intra prediction angles, and generating prediction information indicating the determined intra prediction mode corresponding to the intra prediction angle used to encode the current block.

    Abstract: A method for video encoding includes determining a filter shape of a cross-component filter applied to a chroma coding block (CB), generating a first intermediate CB by applying a loop filter to the chroma CB, and generating a second intermediate CB by applying, to a corresponding luma CB, the cross-component filter applied to the chroma CB and having the determined filter shape. The method further includes determining a filtered chroma CB based on the first intermediate CB and the second intermediate CB by combining the loop filtered chroma CB with the cross-component filtered luma CB, and generating coded information of the chroma CB in a coded video bitstream. Determining the filter shape includes determining the filter shape of the cross-component filter based on the number of the filter coefficients and based on at least one of (i) the chroma subsampling format or (ii) the chroma sample type.
