A mail relay server decodes a received command electronic message to produce and issue a command to a service manager server which is directed to a device manager server for a target printing device. The device manager server produces and issues instructions to the target printing device. If the command includes a request for the reply, the process of executing the instruction in the target printing device includes the target printing device producing and issuing, the reply to the device manager server. The device manager server collects any multi packet reply and transmits the reply to the service manager server which directs the reply to the mail relay server. The mail relay server encodes the received reply to produce and issue a reply electronic message to the requestor.
Abstract:
A transmission destination when transmitting data stored in the first information processing apparatus to the second information processing apparatus is registered in the first information processing apparatus. When the registered transmission destination has a transfer setting of transferring data transmitted to the transmission destination, the first information processing apparatus displays, in association with a button for transmission to the transmission destination, information representing the transfer destination of data transferred in accordance with the transfer setting.

When an electronic message is received from a requester a mail relay server decodes the command electronic message to produce and issue a command to a service manager server. The command from the service manager server is directed to a device manager server responsible for managing the target printing device. The device manager server formats the command to be compatible with the target printing device to produce and issue an instruction to the target printing device. The target printing device then executes the instruction. If the command includes a request for the reply, the process of executing the instruction includes producing, by the target printing device, the reply and issuing the reply to the device manager server. The device manager server collects the reply if it is in many packets and transmits the reply to the service manager server. Once the reply is transmitted, the service manager server directs the reply to the mail relay server. After the reply is directed to the mail relay server the mail relay server encodes the reply to produce and issue a reply electronic message to the requester.

A transmission apparatus transmits e-mail to a reception apparatus through a network by selecting one of a communication method via a mail server and a communication method without intervention of a mail server. This transmission apparatus generates the e-mail and transmits, to the reception apparatus, the e-mail and information representing the reply method of a transmittal confirmation request in response to the e-mail. The transmission apparatus receives, from the reception apparatus in accordance with the reply method, a transmittal confirmation result in response to the transmitted e-mail.

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to systems and method for transmitting a secure electronic fax transmission report for a fax job from a fax capable printer to a user or recipient and sending commands for resubmitting or deleting the fax job from the user to the fax capable printer. One embodiment is a method for electronically transmitting a fax transmission report for a fax job from a fax capable printer. An email address is received for the user or the recipient. A recipient fax number is received. A document is scanned and an electronic representation of the document is transmitted to the recipient fax number as a fax job. The fax transmission report is generated. The fax transmission report includes the status of the fax job. An email including the fax transmission report is transmitted to the email address of the user or the recipient.

In an Internet facsimile apparatus, it is an object of the invention to provide means for notifying the user of details of a message disposition notification situation (MDN) of a transmission image. When E-mail data is sent, an MDN for E-mail to be sent is requested and communication management information of the sent E-mail is updated on the basis of a reception result of reply E-mail responsive to the MDN request.

An image data communication apparatus is connected to an image data source and to a network, and transmits image data attached to an e-mail to a receiving apparatus via the network. The e-mail including a mail from command and a mail message. The image data is attached to the e-mail as an openable document. The image data communication apparatus comprises a memory which stores default information and information regarding an identification of at least one user, and a panel section which selects information regarding an identification of at least one user other than the default information stored in the memory. The image data communication apparatus comprises a controller which sets the default information into the mail message of the e-mail to which the image data is attached when the information regarding the identification of the user is not selected by the panel section, and sets the information regarding identification of the user selected by the panel section into the mail message of the e-mail to which the image data is attached when the information regarding the identification of the user is selected by the panel section.
