Abstract:
An Internet facsimile gateway device that exchanges image information between a data terminal device and a facsimile device through a telecommunication network and the Internet by taking the steps of transmitting the image information included in an electronic mail message to the facsimile device when the Internet facsimile gateway device receives the electronic mail message requesting image-information transmission to the facsimile device, creating a delivery-confirmation mail message notifying a result of the image-information transmission after the image-information transmission by the Internet facsimile gateway device is completed if the electronic mail message requests the Internet facsimile gateway device to transmit the delivery-confirmation mail message to an original address of the electronic mail message, and transmitting the delivery-confirmation mail message to the original address of the electronic mail message.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a facsimile gateway device capable of easily avoiding interruption of facsimile communication due to a delay in data transmission via the Internet, without changing a communication procedure. A main control unit of the gateway device receives facsimile image data from one facsimile machine via the Internet, and stores the image data into an image data memory area of a hard disk drive. When transmitting the image data to a destination facsimile machine via a public switched telephone network, the gateway device transmits a TCF signal, to which error data is appended, if image data of one page worth is not stored in the image data memory area. The TCF signal is a procedure signal for facsimile communication, and is a test data for training. The error data is, for example, all “1” data.
Abstract:
An existing printer arranged to print data from a PC (personal computer) is used as the printer unit of a facsimile apparatus. The PC uses a printer driver dedicated to an existing printer (capable of performing the same processing as the printer unit of the facsimile apparatus) as a module, serving as application software for a facsimile-apparatus control unit, for printing the data from the PC. When printing data from the PC, a command uniquely directed to the facsimile apparatus is added to the printing data generated by the PC's printer driver, and the resultant data is transmitted to the facsimile apparatus. Upon receipt of the transmitted data, the facsimile apparatus removes the added command, thus restoring the printing data generated by the printer driver, and transmits the restored data to the printer unit to perform printing. It is thus possible to use the printer unit and the printer driver which utilize existing printers, and to cause the facsimile apparatus to wait in a state of receiving a common command system.
Abstract:
A communications system includes an internet protocol network, a calling modem and an answering modem configured to effectively handle network latency. The calling modem includes a timer storing a network latency value. The network latency value is compared to a network latency threshold. If the network latency threshold is less than the network latency value, then a high speed modem connection is continued. If the network latency value is greater than the network latency threshold, then the high speed modem connection is terminated. In place of the high speed modem connection, a low speed modem connection is established. The calling modem is operable to transmit a modem connection selection signal for selecting a high speed modem connection or a low speed modem connection. The answering modem is operable to receive the modem connection selection signal.
Abstract:
In a network facsimile communication system including Internet fax devices and a server, the Internet fax devices have both a capability of exchanging fax images over a public switched telephone network PSTN and a capability of exchanging messages over the Internet. The server has a file transfer capability and is provided on the Internet. A called Internet fax device sends, upon incoming of a call from the PSTN, an Internet fax indication to a calling Internet fax device, the indication indicating that the called device has an Internet fax capability. The calling Internet fax device sends, after the Internet fax indication is received, an universal resource locator URL, indicating a location of the server on the Internet as a destination of a fax image, to the called Internet fax device, releases the call from the PSTN, and transmits the fax image to the server corresponding to the URL. The called Internet fax device accesses the server on the Internet by using the received URL, so that the called Internet fax device receives the fax image from the server.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system, method, and program for processing a message in a network computing system including a facsimile transmission comprised of a recipient contact address and message content. The message content includes at least one of message text and attached files. Multiple facsimile transmissions are managed as fax jobs in multiple fax management systems. The fax management systems transfer the message content from the fax jobs to a rendering computer. The rendering computer launches at least one application program to convert the message content from the multiple fax jobs to images in a file format and transfers each converted message content in the file format to the fax management system that sent the message content to the rendering computing system. The fax management systems transfer the message content in the file format to one of multiple communication ports for transmittal to the recipient contact address.
Abstract:
To reduce workload on an Internet facsimile machine on the transmission side, and to execute a retransmission processing promptly and reliably, an electronic mail server device includes a function for receiving an electronic mail, a function for transmitting the received electronic mail to the Internet facsimile machine of a destination via the Internet, and a function for carrying out a facsimile transmission of the image data via a public telephone network. The electronic mail server device also includes a RAM which stores an address/number corresponding table which corresponds the electronic mail address and the facsimile number of the Internet facsimile machine of the destination. When receiving the electronic mail including the image data, and failing to transmit the electronic mail including the image data to the Internet facsimile machine of the destination, a main control unit carries out a facsimile transmission of the image data of the electronic mail to the Internet facsimile machine of the destination via the public telephone network in accordance with the facsimile number corresponding to the electronic mail address of the Internet facsimile machine of the destination.
Abstract:
A FoIP server mediating fax communication between gateways and enterprise backend systems. The gateways are VoIP capable, connected to the PSTN and the enterprise network, and mediate between the PSTN fax call and fax over IP calls. The FoIP Server mediates between the FoIP calls and enterprise backend systems, such as message transfer agent (MTA), Customer Relationship Management CRM, document management, web services, mainframe, or a specialized application requiring faxing capabilities.
Abstract:
The control method of the facsimile device according to the present invention comprises the steps of extracting a character sequence representing an e-mail address from the contents of the received e-mail, extracting a character sequence representing a name of the origin of the received e-mail for extracted e-mail address, storing both the e-mail address and the name of the origin of the received e-mail as a destination name in the system memory, and associating a pair of e-mail address and corresponding destination name with one of a plurality of one-touch dial buttons. Therefore, when there are an e-mail address and a destination name indicated in the contents of the received e-mail, the e-mail address and the destination name are automatically extracted and stored in the memory.
