A cervical traction/stretch system includes a traction/stretch mechanism for applying tension between a body's head and shoulders, the traction/stretch mechanism including a bellows; a pump operatively coupled with the traction/stretch mechanism for alternately inflating and deflating the bellows; and an at least semi-automatic controller operatively coupled with the pump for at least semi-automatically controlling the pump by activating and deactivating the same in such manner as to alternately and repeatably inflate and deflate the bellows to prescribed pressure levels over prescribed pressure intervals.
Abstract:
Therapeutic devices that provide support or pressure to tissue. Devices contain a material that is capable of being contracted from its relaxed state to an evacuated state. The material applies pressure to the tissue of a patient when the material is in its relaxed state. Reduction of pressure by application of a vacuum results in a contracted state of the device, so that the device can be applied or delivered to a patient. Release of vacuum results in a return to the relaxed state, thus providing a maximum desirable pressure to tissue and avoiding the possibility of over-pressure which can result in tissue damage or necrosis.
Abstract:
An air-tight foam-filled bladder is used for varying massage intensity in a massage chair, massage mat, or other massage device. The bladder may be compressed from a default or relaxed thickness by evacuating air from the bladder. The thickness of the foam-filled bladder may be reduced to a collapsed thickness in which the foam is compressed within the bladder. In use, the foam-filled bladder is placed proximate a conventional fixed massage mechanism in a massage device, such as in the back rest of a massage chair. By controlling the amount of air evacuated from the bladder, the intensity of the massage is controlled by varying the amount of pressure exerted by the fixed massage mechanism on the user. In the case of a massage chair, the user may advantageously sit back in the chair without discomfort when the user does not want a massage, and may control the intensity of the massage provided by the chair. In another embodiment, an active pump may be used to inflate one or more bladders that may or may not include a foam insert. The number, size and location of the bladders may be varied in any of the embodiments.

A support frame for a CPR apparatus, in particular a gas-driven CPR apparatus, comprises one or more support elements, which can be inflated by a gas, in particular by the driving gas. The support elements have a flexible but substantially not resilient wall. Also disclosed is the combination of a CPR apparatus and the support frame.

The cervical traction/stretch device kit comprises a cervical traction/stretch device including an expandable bellows section which is made of non-elastic and non-stretchable material. The device further includes a shoulder section which can be fixed to or made integral with the bellows section. At least two, preferably three, interchangeable head sections are provided so that substantially all human head sizes can be supported by the device. Also provided is a head frame section which is releasably assembled with one of the head sections, the bellows section and the shoulder section to provide a cervical traction/stretch device. The bellows section, the shoulder section and the head section have aligned U-shaped openings therein adapted to receive and support a patient's neck. A pumping mechanism, preferably including an air pump and pressure relief structure are connected to the bellows section for pumping air into the bellows section for expanding the bellows section and for relieving or releasing air out of the bellows section. A triangular-in-cross-section base is provided in the kit for supporting the device at a small angle to the horizontal.

A vibratory table having a base and a platform movably supported above the base. The vibratory table includes a roller support secured to the platform and a first and a second driveshaft rotatably mounted to the roller support so that the shafts are spaced apart and parallel to each other. A first gear is secured to the first shaft which meshes with a second gear secured to the second shaft so that the shafts rotate in synchronism with each other and in opposite directions. A roller is disposed over each shaft while a shift mechanism is contained within each roller. Each shift mechanism is operable to move the roller in a radial direction to a position offset from the axis of the roller to create an unbalanced load for the rollers. A motor rotatably drives at least one of the shafts.

An air pulse generator includes a housing having a front wall and a back wall defining an interior region and a shell having a front portion and a back portion defining an air chamber. The front wall of the housing has first and second air openings. The front portion of the shell has first and second air ports in communication with the air chamber. The first and second air ports are aligned with the first and second air openings when the shell is mounted within the interior region of the housing.

The present invention provides a device having a body, at least one accessory, at least one pump, and at least one tube located within the body and operatively connecting the accessory to the pump. The pump, inflates the accessory thus alters at least one aspect of the accessory. Additionally, the invention provides a device which offers similar features as the previous device but in a sheath-like structure that fits over a phallus or a phallus like structure.
Abstract:
A CPR device depicted and disclosed provides for ergonomically administering CPR from the side of a patient, thereby reducing or eliminating the risk of injury and providing a means for maximally effective CPR. One embodiment is optionally attachable to a bed or gurney and provides a leveraged structure with a CPR pad, so that CPR can be performed from the side of the bed or gurney. Other devices may be portable, and can be unfolded to encircle a patient's chest and so that CPR can be more effectively administered from the patient's side by means of a lever or by means of compressed air-driven compression devices.
