Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate generally to the production of graphene/polymer compounds. In some embodiments, a method for producing graphene/polymer compounds includes compounding graphene nanoflakes with non-conductive polymer hosts via electrospray coating techniques, taking advantage of the highly electrostatically chargeable properties of graphene to de-agglomerate and further exfoliate the graphene nanoflakes in-situ, and providing uniform and well-dispersed graphene nanoflake coating on various non-conductive polymer hosts, such as polymer fine particles, pellets, fibers, fabrics, non-woven, film, and formed articles. In some embodiments, the deposition of the graphene nanoflakes onto the hosts may be performed in combination with other components, such as but not limited to metal oxides and polymers. The method can be a batch or a continuous process, and is suitable for large scale production of graphene coated materials such as graphene/polymer compound, which can be further processed by, for example, extrusion, compression molding, or injection molding, to yield formed articles.

Abstract: Described is a micro-lattice damping material and a method for repeatable energy absorption. The micro-lattice damping material is a cellular material formed of a three-dimensional interconnected network of hollow tubes. This material is operable to provide high damping, specifically acoustic, vibration or shock damping, by utilizing the energy absorption mechanism of hollow tube buckling, which is rendered repeatable by the micro-lattice architecture.

Abstract: A recording medium has a substrate and a first color developing layer, a heat insulating layer and a second color developing layer laminated on the substrate in this order. The first color developing layer develops a first color at a temperature not less than a first threshold value. The second color developing layer develops a second color that is different from the first color at a temperature not less than a second threshold value that is higher than the first threshold value. The heat insulating layer has a first heat insulating layer of a first heat conductivity and a second heat insulating layer of a second heat conductivity that is higher than the first heat conductivity, which are laminated in a second direction orthogonal to a first direction in which the first color developing layer, the heat insulating layer, and the second color developing layer are laminated on the substrate.

Abstract: Fabrication and arrangement of nanoparticles into one-dimensional linear chains is achieved by successive chemical reactions, each reaction adding one or more nanoparticles by building onto exposed, unprotected linker functionalities. Optionally, protecting groups may be used to control and organize growth. Nanoparticle spheres are functionalized in a controlled manner in order to enable covalent linkages. Functionalization of nanoparticles is accomplished by either ligand exchange or chemical modification of the terminal functional groups of the capping ligand. Nanoparticle chains are obtained by a variety of connectivity modes such as direct coupling, use of linker molecules, and use of linear polymeric templates. In particular, a versatile building block system is obtained through controlled monofunctionalization of nanoparticles.

Abstract: A satellite paint waste recovery system for a painting system which reduces hazardous waste generation, providing instead a plurality of solvent mixes which are reusable by the painting system. The satellite paint waste recovery system employs a method of capturing reusable solvent when changing paint colors in the painting system which includes flushing a discrete color of paint loaded in the painting system with fresh solvent and capturing the discrete color of paint flushed and some of the flushing solvent as a discrete color solvent mix in a discrete container each time the paint color sought to be used in the painting system is changed. The discrete color of solvent mix can subsequently be reused to thin a new container of paint instead of using new solvent.

Abstract: The present invention provides a coating method for coating an adhesive solution on a substrate to form a film layer. The coating method comprises the following steps: S1, obtaining an initial value of a coating parameter corresponding to a target thickness of the film layer based on at least one functional relation between a thickness of the film layer formed within a predetermined period and at least one coating parameter; S2, starting to coat in accordance with the initial value of the coating parameter obtained in step S1, so that the thickness of the film layer obtained reaches an initial target thickness. Accordingly, the present invention further provides a coating device. According to the present invention, the value of the coating parameter can be determined quickly, thereby coating efficiency can be increased.
