Abstract:
A method for patterning biomaterials is presented. The biomaterials exhibit biological activity after patterning. The use of bio-compatible imaging materials and solvents allows conventional lithographic patterning methods to be applied to patterning biomolecules. The method allows deposition of multiple layers without subsequent layers affecting earlier laid deposits and can pattern multiple different biomolecules on a single surface.
Abstract:
In a method for sanitizing a touch screen of an electronic device, the electronic device includes a first motor roller and a second motor roller and a screen sanitization system. The first motor roller connects to the second motor roller through a flexible pipe that is filled with a sanitizer. The first motor roller is scrolled to clean and sanitize a first protective film using sanitizer when the first protective film is overlaid on the surface of the touch screen, and a second protective film is drawn to overlay on the surface of the touch screen. The second motor roller is scrolled to clean and sanitize the second protective film using the sanitizer when the second protective film is overlaid on the surface of the touch screen, and the first protective film is drawn to overlay on the surface of the touch screen.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatus for masking of substrates for deposition, and subsequent lifting of the mask with deposited material. Masking materials are utilized that can be used in high temperatures and vacuum environment. The masking material has minimal outgassing once inside a vacuum chamber and withstand the temperatures during deposition process. The mask is inkjeted over the wafers and, after deposition, removed using agitation, such as ultrasonic agitation, or using laser burn off.
Abstract:
An apparatus for masking an article with masking material is disclosed. The apparatus generally includes a spray head connected to a primary channel which forms a passage for the masking material. This channel has two sections, the first of which terminates in a junction with the spray head and is angled from the second section. In addition, the apparatus has at least one secondary channel which forms an air passage and is attached to the primary angled channel
Abstract:
Electronic devices may have housings in which components are mounted. Some of the components may be sensitive to moisture. Other components may be insensitive to moisture and may form openings in a device housing that allow moisture to escape from within the housing. Components may be mounted on substrates such as printed circuit board substrates. Moisture repelling layers and moisture attracting layers may be patterned to form channels and other structures that guide moisture away from sensitive components towards insensitive components. Moisture repelling and attracting layers may also be used to limit the lateral spread of a conformal coating layer when coating components.
Abstract:
A method for forming a coating on a plate-shaped workpiece is disclosed. In the method, a plate-shaped workpiece and a masking fixture are provided. The workpiece includes a surface including a coating region and a pattern region. The masking fixture includes a resilient liquid masking applicator having a groove. An outline shape of the groove conforms to the pattern region. The groove is filled with liquid masking material. The workpiece is pressed onto the liquid masking applicator with the pattern region aligned with the groove. The liquid masking material is solidified thereby the solidified liquid masking material is attached to the pattern region of the workpiece. A coating is formed on the coating region. The solidified liquid masking material is removed from the workpiece.
Abstract:
A coating method for coating an enclosure is disclosed. A masking material and a coating material are applied to a flange of the enclosure. The masking material does not absorb the coating material.

Further, a curable resin composition for surface protection, comprising (A) a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate, (B) a monofunctional (meth)acrylate, (C) a resin having a cyclopentadiene skeleton, and (D) a photopolymerization initiator. Still further, a curable resin composition for surface protection, comprising (A) a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate, (B) a monofunctional (meth)acrylate, (C) a resin having a cyclopentadiene skeleton, (D) a photopolymerization initiator, and (E) a polar organic solvent.
Abstract:
A process for manufacturing a mask having submillimetric openings, in which: for a masking layer, a solution of colloidal nanoparticles that are stabilized and dispersed in a first solvent is deposited, the particles having a given glass transition temperature Tg, the drying of the masking layer is carried out at a temperature below the temperature Tg until a mask having a two-dimensional network of submillimetric openings is obtained with substantially straight mask area edges, in a zone referred to as a network mask zone, a zone free of masking is formed on the face by mechanical and/or optical removal of at least one peripheral portion of the network mask zone. The invention also relates to the network mask and the grid with an electroconductive solid zone that are thus obtained.
Abstract:
An engraved surface in a metallic workpiece and an engraving method therefor, for use in providing a decorative metallic surface. An engraved pattern is formed in a workpiece prior to the formation of an electroplated layer that continuously extends over the engraved pattern and adjacent surface areas of the workpiece. The engraved pattern includes wall-cut engravings inscribed in the workpiece that are used to define outer boundaries of the engraved pattern. The substantially vertical walls obtained by such wall-cut engravings permits a sharp, well-defined boundary between the engraved pattern and adjacent painted surfaces. A mask material is first applied to cover the engraved pattern, and then trimmed to create the sharp edge at the boundary of the engraved pattern. This permits a paint layer to be formed immediately adjacent to the engraved pattern, providing a decorative juxtaposition in an electroplated metallic surface after removal of the mask layer.
