Abstract: The present invention provides a process for purifying a monoterpene or sesquiterpene having a purity greater than about 98.5% (w/w). The process comprises the steps of derivatizing the monoterpene (or sesquiterpene) to produce a monoterpene (or sesquiterpene) derivative, separating the monoterpene (or sesquiterpene) derivative, and releasing the monoterpene (or sesquiterpene) from the derivative. Also encompassed by the scope of the present invention is a pharmaceutical composition comprising a monoterpene (or sesquiterpene) having a purity greater than about 98.5% (w/w). The purified monoterpene can be used to treat a disease such as cancer. The present monoterpene (or sesquiterpene) may be administered alone, or may be co-administered with radiation or other therapeutic agents, such as chemotherapeutic agents.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a zeolitic adsorbent agglomerate comprising at least one zeolite of faujasite type comprising sodium and/or lithium and/or calcium, and/or barium and/or potassium, of porosity between 25% and 45%, and having a standard deviation σ of crystal size distribution in said agglomerate of less than 0.30 μm. The invention also concerns the use of the zeolitic adsorbent agglomerate to separate hydrocarbon mixtures, and the process to separate hydrocarbon mixtures using said zeolitic adsorbent agglomerate.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for purifying raw dinitrotoluenes resulting from dinitration of toluene in the presence of a nitric acid/sulfuric acid/nitrating acid mixture, and a device or plant for performing the method, and a corresponding production plant for producing dinitrotoluene, characterized in that (a) the raw dinitrotoluenes are first subjected to a wash with at least one washing medium after separation of the nitrating acid mixture, followed by a separation of the washing medium; and that (b) subsequently the washed dinitrotoluenes resulting from method step (a) are subjected to stripping (stripping gas treatment) with at least one gas (stripping gas).

Abstract: This invention relates to methods for producing chemical products, wherein the one or more feed materials are reacted to form a chemical product or a chemical composition. The invention further relates to plants for performing such methods, said plants being designed in such a way that, during an interruption of the methods, no input of at least one feed material into the reaction occurs and the plant parts not affected by a revision measure, maintenance measure, repair measure, or cleaning measure are operated in so-called re-circulation mode. It is thereby achieved, among other things, that only the affected plant part needs to be shut down for the time of the measure, which can be advantageous with regard to the productivity and economy of the method and the quality of the produced products. Finally, the invention relates to methods for operating plants in the event that individual plant parts are taken out of service.

Abstract: An optically active compound production method using a column reactor, a column for column reactor is charged with asymmetric catalyst particles to produce the column reactor, and reaction compound is introduced into column reactor to bring reaction compound into contact with asymmetric catalyst particles, whereby reaction compound is converted to optically active compound. Asymmetric catalyst particles are preferably resin particles that are prepared from a monomer composition containing a proline derivative monomer having unsaturated bond and radical polymerization initiator and serve as catalyst for enamine mechanism reaction. Asymmetric catalyst particles are preferably resin particles prepared by micro-channel method including injecting monomer composition into continuous phase to thereby form droplets of monomer composition in continuous phase and then heating droplets to cause proline derivative monomer having an unsaturated bond to undergo radical polymerization.
