Abstract: A hearing user's device for communicating with a hearing impaired assisted user using an assisted user's device that includes a speaker and a display screen for broadcasting a hearing user's voice signal and presenting captioned text associated with the hearing user's voice signal to the assisted user, respectively, the hearing user's device comprising a microphone for receiving the hearing user's voice signal as spoken by the hearing user, a display screen and a processor linked to the microphone and the display screen, the processor transmitting the hearing user's voice signal to the assisted users device, the processor presenting a quality indication of the captioned text presented to the assisted user via the assisted users device for consideration by the hearing user.

Abstract: The invention relates to a communication system and a method of maintaining audio communication in a congested communication channel currently bearing the transmission of speech in audio communication between a sender side and a receiver side, the communication channel having at least one signaling channel and at least one payload channel having a quality of service. During the audio communication the quality of service of the payload channel is monitored. If the quality of service of the payload channel is below a threshold the speech at the respective sender side is converted to text; and transmitted over the retained communication channel to the respective receiver side. The text may be converted back to speech at the receiver side.

Abstract: A system for providing voice-to-text captioning service comprising a relay processor that receives voice messages generated by a hearing user during a call, the processor programmed to present the voice messages to a first call assistant, a call assistant device used by the first call assistant to generate call assistant generated text corresponding to the hearing user's voice messages, the processor further programmed to run automated voice-to-text transcription software to generate automated text corresponding to the hearing user's voice messages, use the call assistant generated text, the automated text and the hearing user's voice messages to train the voice-to-text transcription software to more accurately transcribe the hearing user's voice messages to text, determine when the accuracy exceeds an accuracy requirement threshold, during the call and prior to the automated text exceeding the accuracy requirement threshold, transmitting the call assistant generated text to the assisted user's device for display to the assisted user and subsequent to the automated text exceeding the accuracy requirement threshold, transmitting the automated text to the assisted user's device for display to the assisted user.

Abstract: A secure telephone call management system is provided for authenticating users of a telephone system in an institutional facility. Authentication of the users of the telephone call management system is accomplished by using a personal identification number, biometric means, and/or radio frequency means. The secure telephone call management system includes accounting software capable of limiting access to the system based on funds in a user's account, and includes management software capable of implementing widespread or local changes to the system. The system monitors a conversation in the telephone call to detect a presence of a first characteristic in audio of the conversation, and terminates the telephone call if the first characteristic does not match a second characteristic of biometric information of a user or a called party.

Abstract: Technologies for adaptive audio communications include a telecommunications device configured to collect session data of a communication session that includes an audio stream between a user of the telecommunications device and at least one other user of a remote telecommunications device. The telecommunications device is further configured to determine a session context of the communication session based on the collected session data, determine whether the session data includes an anomaly, and adjust, in response to a determination that the anomaly was detected, at least one of a portion of the audio stream of the communication session and a setting of the telecommunications device based on the anomaly. The user device includes a monitor that monitors a level of network connectivity between the user device and the network server. A user device speech processor processes speech data and is initiated based on a determination that the level of network connectivity between the user device and the network server is impaired. The monitor determines when the level of network connectivity between the user device and the network server is no longer impaired.

Abstract: Speaker content generated in an audio conference is selectively visually represented. A profile for each audience member who participates in the audio conference is obtained. Speaker content spoken during the audio conference is monitored. Words of the speaker content are classified to have different weights according to a parameter of the profile for each of the audience members. A relation between the speaker content to the profile for each of the audience members is determined. Different visual representations of the speaker content are presented to different ones of the audience members based on the determined relation.
