Abstract: Disclosed are techniques that provide a “best” picture taken within a few seconds of the moment when a capture command is received (e.g., when the “shutter” button is pressed). In some situations, several still images are automatically (that is, without the user's input) captured. These images are compared to find a “best” image that is presented to the photographer for consideration. Video is also captured automatically and analyzed to see if there is an action scene or other motion content around the time of the capture command. If the analysis reveals anything interesting, then the video clip is presented to the photographer. The video clip may be cropped to match the still-capture scene and to remove transitory parts. Higher-precision horizon detection may be provided based on motion analysis and on pixel-data analysis.

Abstract: A signal processing chain implements wide dynamic range (WDR) multi-frame processing including receiving raw image signals from a WDR sensor including a plurality of frames including a first frame including first exposure time pixel data and a second frame including second exposure time pixel data. Statistics for camera control are generated including first statistics for the first pixel data and second statistics for the second pixel data. The first and second pixel data are merged using WDR merge algorithm in a WDR merge block which utilizes the first and second statistics to generate a raw higher bit width single frame image. The single frame image is post-processed in post-processing block using at least a defect pixel correction algorithm, and at least a portion of tone mapping is performed on the single frame image after the post-processing to provide an output toned mapped image.

Abstract: In a case where a recording medium having a communication function is used for a digital still camera, noise may be generated and superposed on data to be recorded if data transmission is performed in imaging. On the other hand, in a case where data is transmitted in response to a user's request from an external apparatus, communication interruption degrades usability. The digital still camera obtains a product name of the recording medium from the recording medium so as to specify a transmission mode. If an automatic transmission mode for spontaneously performing data transmission is specified, data transmission is interrupted when imaging instruction is issued and furthermore the communication function of the recording medium may be disabled. On the other hand, if a manual transmission mode for performing data transmission in response to a request is specified, a communication state is maintained even if an imaging instruction is issued.

Abstract: A saturation ratio calculation unit calculates a saturation ratio of the saturation of an outer circumference of a color gamut of an input image to the saturation of an outer circumference of a color gamut of an output image. A histogram generation unit generates a histogram in which a plurality of pixels selected as pixels outside the color gamut are counted for each pair of lightness and hue. A magnification determination unit determines, within a range of not less than 1 and not more than the saturation ratio, a magnification by which the chromaticity of the input image to be subjected to the color gamut conversion is to be multiplied for each pair of lightness and hue based on the histogram.

In information processing apparatus and the method, a moving image file is selected from a plurality of moving image files and is reproduced, and a folder corresponding to the selected moving image file is created. A still image file is generated based on a video frame extracted from the moving image file being reproduced, and the generated still image file is stored into the created folder in association with the folder. When another moving image file is selected, another folder is newly created, and a still image file generated from the other moving image file being reproduced is stored into the other folder.

The apparatus information acquisition unit acquires apparatus information on the electronic apparatus. The display control unit causes the display device to display a composite image formed by combining additional information based on the apparatus information with a to-be-combined image, while linking the additional information to a position of the electronic apparatus in the to-be-combined image, this position corresponding to a relationship between the position of the electronic apparatus in real space and a position of the portable apparatus in real space.

An indication corresponding to the second portion of the generated image for which operation is enabled may be displayed on the generated image.
