Abstract: In a method of video decoding at a video decoder, a first high level syntax (HLS) element and a second HLS element can be received. The first HLS element can indicate whether an explicit multiple transform selection (MTS) is enabled or disabled for an intra coded block. The second HLS element can indicate whether the explicit MTS is enabled or disabled for an inter coded block. The first and second HLS elements can control a same set of coding blocks that include the intra coded block and the inter coded block. An implicit MTS can be enabled for the intra coded block when the first HLS element indicates the explicit MTS is disabled for the intra coded block, and the second HLS element indicates the explicit MTS is enabled for the inter coded block.

Abstract: An apparatus for video coding includes processing circuitry that encodes prediction information of a current block in a video bitstream. The prediction information indicates a first set of intra prediction direction mode numbers for the current block. The processing circuitry determines whether a first intra prediction direction mode number of a neighboring block of the current block is in the first set of intra prediction direction mode numbers. In response to the first intra prediction direction mode number not being in the first set of intra prediction direction mode numbers, the processing circuitry determines a most probable mode for the current block based on a second intra prediction direction mode number in the first set of intra prediction direction mode numbers that is nearest to the first intra prediction direction mode number. The processing circuitry encodes the current block based on the most probable mode of the current block.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding and/or decoding. In some examples, an apparatus for video decoding includes processing circuitry that can decode coded information of a transform block (TB) from a coded video bitstream. The coded information indicates a region of the TB on which a secondary transform is applied. The region includes a first sub-region having transform coefficients calculated by the secondary transform and a second sub-region that is a zero-out region. In response to a determination that a neighboring transform coefficient is in the second sub-region and a current transform coefficient in the TB is not in the second sub-region, the processing circuitry determines the current transform coefficient according to a default value for the neighboring transform coefficient. The processing circuitry reconstructs a sample in the TB based on the transform coefficient for the sample.
