Abstract:
An improved air pulse generator produces high frequency chest wall oscillations (HFCWO) and has an improved air pulse generator. The air pulse module has a reduced size and improved shape for ease of use by a patient.
Abstract:
Described is an exercise tool. More particularly, it is a therapy and exercise tool specifically devised as a hand and finger-therapy device to align, separate, and stretch the user's fingers and hands. The device includes a finger separator that is sized and shaped to be positioned between a user's adjacent fingers to manipulate and/or separate the fingers, thereby providing hand and finger-therapy.
Abstract:
Massage apparatus of the invention includes a spherical inflatable body made of resilient material for mounting a massage actuator, the body having a socket mechanism accessible at its surface for holding the massage actuator, the body having an air-nozzle for inflation/deflation. The massage actuator is either of powered nature or non-powered nature. Various embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
There is provided a non-invasive pulsation and counterpulsation medical treatment apparatus for treating reduced cardiac output in heart patients. A flexible cuff is passed over the patient's lower body and/or extremities, and is attached a hydraulic actuator. Through a mechanical linkage, the actuator sequentially tensions and releases the cuff, thereby sequentially compressing and releasing pressure on the patient, and thereby augmenting the patient's blood pressure. The actuator includes a hydraulic cylinder that axially extends and retracts a shaft. A curved plate on the apparatus supports the patient's body or extremity in a fixed position during the treatment. A pressure sensor in the cuff transmits pressure data to an operator or electronic processor. Based on physiological data continuously obtained from the patient, various treatment parameters may be changed during the patient's treatment by an attending clinician or by a computer processor controlling the treatment.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a non-invasive rigid-support enhanced external counterpulsation device (RS-EECP) providing a precise onset of a blood flow characterized by a sharp-wave front, useful for out-patient treatment of arterial insufficiency states, especially angina; said RS-EECP comprising a timing means and a plurality of pressing cuffs; said timing means is adapted to onset the collapsing and expanding maneuvers of the cuffs in a sequence of occasions defined along the diastolic/systolic cycle; said cuffs are fastened around at least a portion of the circumference of at least one organ comprising a vascular bed to counterpulsate against an either fixed or maneuverable support; wherein said support is a rigid member; so as a quick expansion of said vessel bed, following a forceful and effective collapsing of the same is obtained.
Abstract:
An improved air pulse generator produces high frequency chest wall oscillations (HFCWO) and has an improved user interface. The user interface allows the patient to select from a plurality of modes, which correspond to stored treatment protocols. Once selected, the air pulse generator performs the protocol corresponding to the selected mode.
Abstract:
A low-frequency lung vibration apparatus is designed to vibrate lungs clogged by sputum, using acoustic waves. The freed sputum becomes easier to be removed by expectoration. The apparatus includes a garment composed of layers, a plurality of electro-mechanical or dynamic vibrators and a controlling unit. An inner layer contains a loading and shape conforming material, while an outer shell holds the vibrators, the controller and the inner garment together. An outer shell is made of a non-stretch material. Several fasteners/zippers hold the inner garment in place and several strategically placed straps allow a tight fit of the garment. The loading created by the layers of the apparatus is tailored to cause the existence of a uniform compression-expansion resonance of the lungs beneficial for sputum removal. A controlling unit allows the detection of a person's lungs resonance frequency and controls the vibrator(s) frequency and amplitude during a treatment.
Abstract:
A resuscitation device for automatic compression of a victim's chest using a compression belt operably attached to a platform upon which a patient rests. In use, the compression belt is wrapped around the patient and at least one spindle operably attached to the platform.
Abstract:
A dual use massage chair has inflatable and deflatable air bags and bladders in a chair back to provide a massage function and serve as a comfortable chair. The main structure thereof includes the air bags disposed at two sides of a seat and in a front cover, and the bladders and recovering springs disposed between a massage mechanism and a back frame. Inflating the air bags and the bladders respectively or simultaneously can form a separating space for separating the massage mechanism from a back of a human body and thus to form a comfortable sofa chair. Also, the bladders and the air bags may be deflated to recover the use of the normal massage chair. Thus, the utilities of the comfortable chair and the typical massage chair can be achieved.
