Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for facilitating scheduling of uplink data using demodulation reference signal and scheduled resources. According to an embodiment, a system can comprise configuring a network device with a periodic rate of specified sounding reference signals with a periodicity using radio resource control signaling. The system can further facilitate estimating channel state information associated with a channel via which the network device communicates. The system can further facilitate transmitting an uplink grant with uplink transmission parameters to set up a physical uplink shared channel, wherein the uplink transmission parameters are determined based on the channel state information. The system can further facilitate estimating scheduling parameters based on a first estimation information associated with the physical uplink shared channel.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for scheduling data transmission in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system. The MIMO system may comprise at least one MIMO transmitter and at least one MIMO receiver. Feedback from one or more receivers may be used by a transmitter to improve quality, capacity, and scheduling in MIMO communication systems. The method may include generating or receiving information pertaining to a MIMO channel metric and information pertaining to a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) in respect of a transmitted signal; and sending a next transmission to a receiver using a MIMO mode selected in accordance with the information pertaining to the MIMO channel metric, and an adaptive coding and modulation selected in accordance with the information pertaining to the CQI.

Abstract: A method and system for minimizing the control overhead in a multi-carrier wireless communication network that utilizes a time-frequency resource is disclosed. In some embodiments, one or more zones in the time-frequency resource are designated for particular applications, such as a zone dedicated for voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications. By grouping applications of a similar type together within a zone, a reduction in the number of bits necessary for mapping a packet stream to a portion of the time-frequency resource can be achieved. In some embodiments, modular coding schemes associated with the packet streams may be selected that further reduce the amount of necessary control information. In some embodiments, packets may be classified for transmission in accordance with application type, QoS parameters, and other properties. In some embodiments, improved control messages may be constructed to facilitate the control process and minimize associated overhead.

Embodiments of a dynamic downlink waveform switching implementation may, for example, support utilization of one or more multiple carrier (MC) waveform (e.g., OFDMA) or other high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) waveform and one or more SC (SC) waveform (e.g., discrete Fourier transform-spread-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM)) or other low PAPR waveform. Dynamic selection of a downlink waveform may be made by an access point based upon various metrics, including relative distance to a served an access terminal and the preference of downlink waveform indicated by a served an access terminal. A downlink waveform selection indication may be signaled from the access point to the served an access terminal using downlink control information (DCI).
