A system, method, and process for embedding low frequency image details and high frequency image details into a final digital image file. A digital image file is stored with embedded low and high frequency image details that are accessible with a compatible digital image decoder and a non-compatible digital image decoder. Non-compatible digital image decoders access only a compressed low frequency image of the original digital image contained in the final digital image file. Compatible digital image decoders use the embedded high frequency image details contained in the final digital image file to render a high resolution image.
Abstract:
An original copy sheet is pre-scanned to obtain pre-scanned image data of a bit map form with a low resolution. The pre-scanned image data is converted to JPEG thumbnail image data. An EXIF file is formed in an external media to store the JPEG thumbnail image data in the EXIF file. The original copy sheet is mainly scanned to obtain main image data of a bit map form with a high resolution. The main image data is converted to JPEG main image data. In the EXIF file in the external media, the JPEG main image data is stored.

An image processor includes a storing unit, an image determining unit, and an output unit. The storing unit stores a selecting condition. The image determining unit determines whether the image corresponding to the set of the image data satisfies the selecting condition. The output unit outputs an image list including either one of the image that is determined to satisfy the selecting condition by the image determining unit and a resized image resized from the image that is determined to satisfy the selecting condition by the image determining unit.

An image processing system readily provides a client PC with preview of a target image for printing or transmission. In accordance with a request from a client PC (information transmission direction i), a server 2 requests a MFP 1 to generate base image data by reducing the size of an original image and to transmit information of image editing contents available for the MFP 1 to the server 2 (information transmission direction ii). In accordance with the requests from the server 2, the MFP 1 subsequently provides the base image data and necessary information to the server 2 (information transmission direction iii). Then, the server 2 provides the client PC with a preview window to display the image data obtained by reducing the size of the base image data and an image editing window to display image editing contents available for the MFP 1 (information transmission direction iv).

A printing system includes a circular record medium and a printing apparatus. The circular record medium includes: a data record surface on which electronic data are recorded; a label surface which is a rear surface of the data record surface and on which the printing apparatus prints an image; and a wireless IC tag which is attached to or embedded in the label surface. The printing apparatus includes: a wireless IC reader/writer which reads and writes electronic data from and to the wireless IC tag; a data record unit which writes electronic data on the data record surface; a data input unit which inputs electronic data from the outside; a specific image record unit which writes specific image data associated with the electronic data input from the data input unit to the wireless IC tag by use of the wireless IC reader/writer, upon writing the electronic data input from the data input unit on the data record surface by use of the data record unit; and a label print unit which reads the specific image data from the wireless IC tag by use of the wireless IC reader/writer and prints an image which is based on the read specific image data on the label surface.

A method and apparatus for managing categorized images in a digital camera is provided. In one aspect, a method includes, storing images on a storage media in the digital imaging device, where each image includes at least one tag corresponding to a category for categorizing the images. A category list is generated that includes the categories corresponding to the tags in the images and the category list is stored on the storage media. The category list identifies, for each category, which of the stored images have the tag corresponding to the category. A category within the category list is designated as a default category. The method further includes accessing the image category list in order to display the images, wherein only the identified images of the default category are displayed, thereby speeding access to, and display of, the images.

Methods and system for transferring images between devices is disclosed. For example, differently scaled images by a host device may automatically and/or selectively be transferred to a media player for display. In turn, appropriately scaled images may be transferred automatically and/or selectively to another display device for example a TV, camera or printer. The selectivity may occur either at the host level or at the player level.

In the method, an original image from the terminal device is received, image-identifying data identifying the original image is stored in association with the original image, the image-identifying data is transmitted to the source from which the original image has been transmitted, a sample-image request is received from the terminal device, a prescribed process is performed on the original image, in response to the sample-image request, sample images smaller than the original image are formed by performing the prescribed process, process-identifying data identifying the process performed on the original image is stored, the sample images and the process-identifying data are transmitted to the terminal device, an image-process request including the image-identifying data and the process-identifying data is received, and an image identified by the image-identifying data and the process-identifying data is transmitted.
