Abstract:
A structure intrusion may be determined. For example, a signal may be received corresponding to a wave propagating in the structure. Next, the received signal may be analyzed. Based on the analysis in a “passive mode”, a breach may be determined to have occurred in the structure when the received signal indicates that at least one aspect of the received signal crosses a predetermined threshold. Furthermore, based on the analysis in an “active mode”, a breach may be determined to have occurred in the structure when comparing the received signal to a baseline waveform indicates that at least one aspect of the received signal varies from the baseline waveform by a predetermined amount. The wave propagating in the structure may comprise an elastic wave and may be in an acoustic frequency range or in an ultrasonic frequency range.
Abstract:
A syringe device has a vial for medicaments having a first open end at a scaled second end. The first end having a plunger tip for sealing the end and has a finger grip means mounted adjacent the first. The needle and hub is slidably mounted on a needle on the second end in axial alignment with the sealed end to position said needle for access to the vial. The plunger rod has a first engagement on one end for engagement with the plunger tip and mounting means for detachably mounting the plunger between the finger grip and the hub to prevent access to the vial when the plunger is mounted thereon.

Abstract:
An innovative method and apparatus for disposing of waste fluids, especially human body fluids such as are generated during surgery, into a hospital's sanitary sewer system is provided. A conduit system is adapted to transport waste fluid from a receptacle to a sanitary sewer using an eductor having a venturi device. The conduit system includes first and second conduits. First and second connectors are used to easily connect the first conduit to the second conduit. The second connector includes a flap that acts as a check valve.
Abstract:
A novel piece of jewelry providing a substrate to which one or more link elements may be affixed. The substrate is formed essentially entirely of a non-gold metal that is ductile and sufficiently elastic so that after being formed into a particular shape it will spring back to that shape after being stressed. In order to make the substrate an aesthetically-pleasing part of the jewelry, the non-gold metal used is of a type that may be colored. Suitable substrate metals include, but are not limited to, titanium, tantalum, steel, and a variety of other similar types of metals. The appearance of the substrate permits the use of a wide array of links that may be solid or that may be open-gallery having a broad range of designs. The links may be permanently or temporarily affixed to the substrate.
Abstract:
A structure breach may be determined. A sensor, provided in the structure, may be driven with a constant frequency signal. The sensor may comprise a first conductive element and a second conductive element. The first conductive element may be substantially parallel with the second conductive element. A standing wave pattern may be induced on the sensor by the constant frequency signal reflecting off a termination point of the sensor. A least one characteristic of the sensor caused by the voltage standing wave pattern may be measured. A breach occurrence in the structure may be determined when the measured at least one characteristic varies from a previously determined value by a predetermined amount. The first conductive element and the second conductive element may be sandwiched between two layers comprising the structure. The structure may comprise a shipping container floor. The detected breach may comprise an opening greater than nine square inches.

Abstract:
A method for adjusting a color measurement of a secondary color measurement instrument. The method includes generating a profile for the secondary color measurement instrument based on color measurements of a master color measurement instrument, and applying the profile to adjust the color measurement of the secondary color measurement instrument.
