Abstract:
This disclosure describes, in part, a system management component for use in a power grid data network to systematically adjust the quality of service of data published by publishers and subscribed to by subscribers within the network. In one implementation, subscribers may identify a desired data rate, a minimum acceptable data rate, desired latency, minimum acceptable latency and a priority for each subscription and the system management component may adjust the data rates in real-time to ensure that the power grid data network does not become overloaded and/or fail. In one example, subscriptions with lower priorities may have their quality of service adjusted before subscriptions with higher priorities. In each instance, the quality of service may be maintained, even if reduced, to meet or exceed the minimum acceptable quality of service for the subscription.
Abstract:
Provided is a compound of Formula (I); where R1, R2, L1 and L2 are as described herein. The compound of Formula I and copolymers thereof can be used as epoxy resins, curing agents, flame retardants, UV curable agents and the like. A process for preparing the compound of Formula (I) is also provided.
Abstract:
cDNAs encoding gymnosperm monoterpene synthases have been isolated and sequenced, and the corresponding amino acid sequences have been determined. Modified host cells are provided that have been transformed, transfected, infected and/or injected with a recombinant cloning vehicle and/or DNA sequence encoding a monoterpene synthase of the invention. Thus, systems and methods are provided for the recombinant expression of recombinant monoterpene synthases that may be used to facilitate their production, isolation and purification in significant amounts.
Abstract:
Oxygenase enzymes and the use of such enzymes to produce paclitaxel (Taxolnull) related taxoids, as well as intermediates in the Taxolnull biosynthetic pathway are disclosed. Also disclosed are nucleic acid sequences encoding the oxygenase enzymes. Particular oxygenase enzymes include the disclosed taxoid-14-beta hydroxylases.
Abstract:
This invention provides the identification of a truncation polymorphism of the mdr1 gene that is linked to ivermectin sensitivity in subjects, such as collies. Also provided are methods for detecting drug transport sensitivity in a subject, and animal models and in vitro cell systems using cells from animals having an mdr1 truncation.
Abstract:
A method of converting lignin to phenolic compounds and dicarboxylates in high yield is described. The method involves the use of peroxy acids to react with lignin at a moderated treatment conditions. The peroxy acids can be used along or in combination of other catalysts that have the capability to lower the molecular weight of lignin. A phenolic compounds yield is achieved (>60%) and these phenolic compounds represents high value precursors for various applications include but not limited to antioxidants, health improvement agents, anticorrosive agents, liquid fuel components and performance enhancing agents, resin and adhesives. Dicarboxylic acids can be used for polymer applications or hydrodeoxygenation to hydrocarbon fuel.
Abstract:
CpG densities and sequence motifs that are characteristic of regions of DNA associated with epimutations and control of epimutations are provided. Such regions include, within approximately 400 (or fewer) base pairs, at least one, usually two, and preferably all three of the following features: i) a CpG density of 15% or less; ii) the presence of the sequence motif ATTTGTTTTTTCTTTTnT (SEQ ID NO: 1) where n is A, T, C or G, and statistically relevant variants thereof; and iii) the presence of the sequence motif GGGGGnGGGG (SEQ ID NO: 2), where n is A, T, C or G, and statistically relevant variants thereof.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to the production and culture of undifferentiated spermatogonial stem cells that can be maintained long term and are feeder free. The resultant feeder-free populations can be used in any of a number of protocols including the generation of progeny bulls. The present invention includes novel methods required for the successful enrichment of bovine spermatogonial stem cells, novel cell lines and other components used for the same, as well as the resultant stem cell compositions.
Abstract:
The amino acid and nucleic acid sequences of a Δ5-desaturase enzyme and a Δ8-desaturase enzyme are disclosed. The nucleic acid sequences can be used to design recombinant DNA constructs and vectors. These vectors can then be used to transform various organisms, including for example, plants and yeast. The transformed organisms will then produce polyunsaturated fatty acids. The amino acid sequences are useful for generating enzyme-specific antibodies that are useful for identifying the desaturases.
