Abstract: A vehicle sensor system is described comprising an exterior surface; and a repellent composition disposed on the exterior surface, wherein the repellent composition exhibits an increase in haze according to the Dirty Water Spray Test of less than 5, 4, 3, or 2%. In typical embodiments, the repellent composition exhibits an advancing water contact angle from 90° to 125°. In some embodiments, the sensor system comprises a camera, a laser, a LIDAR sensor, a sonar sensor, or a radar sensor. The exterior surface is typically a windshield surface, a protective housing, or a lens surface. In some favored embodiments, the repellent composition exhibits a roll-off angle of no greater than 25, 20, 15, 10 or 5 degrees. Abstract: A copolymer preparable by copolymerization of monomer components comprising: a) polydimethylsiloxane mono(meth)acrylate having a molecular weight of from 300 to 10000 grams/mole; b) optionally C3-C10 carboxylic acid-functional mono(meth)acrylate or a salt thereof; c) at least one C5-C16 hydroxyalkyl mono(meth)acrylate; and d) at least one of: i) C10-C30 linear alkyl mono(meth)acrylate optionally having one or two carbon atoms replaced by O or S; or ii) at least one (meth)acrylate represented by the formula wherein: R1 is H or a C1-C4 alkyl group; n is an integer from 0 to 18, inclusive; each X is O, S, C2-C6 oxyalkylenoxy, C2-C6 thioalkylenethio, or a covalent bond; and R2 is independently a C5-C50 hydrocarbyl group. The copolymer is useful as a water- and oil-repellent treatment on a substrate. Certain monomers corresponding to component ii) are also disclosed.

Abstract: Presently described are components of a spray application system. At least one component comprises a liquid repellent surface layer. The liquid repellent surface (e.g. layer) may comprise a porous layer and a lubricant impregnated into pores of the porous layer; a fluoropolymer; a fluorochemical material and an organic polymeric binder; or a fluorochemical material melt additive and a thermoplastic polymeric material component. The component is typically a liquid reservoir, a liquid reservoir liner, a lid for a liquid reservoir or liner, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the component comprises a thermoplastic polymeric material. In some favored embodiments, the component is a removable liquid reservoir or liner. In some favored embodiments, the component is a collapsible liquid reservoir or liner. The spray application system typically further comprises a gravity-fed spray gun. Also described are spray application systems, methods of using a spray application system, as well as methods of making a component of a spray application system wherein the component has a liquid repellent surface.

Abstract: Compositions are provided including a free-radically reactive component, a photoradical generator, and either a crosslinker having a photodegradable linkage or a chemical blowing agent, an epoxy component, and a photoacid generator. Polymeric films including reaction products of the compositions are also provided. A debondable article including a polymeric film containing a crosslinker having a photodegradable linkage is further provided, as well as a method of debonding the article. Foam compositions are also provided, including foamed matrices including the reaction products of the compositions. Further, articles and foam adhesives are provided including a substrate and a composition or foam composition disposed on the substrate. A method is additionally provided, including dispensing a composition onto a substrate; subjecting the composition to light radiation having a wavelength band of 50 nanometers or less to initiate polymerization of the composition; and subjecting the composition to light and/or heat radiation, wherein the light radiation has at least one wavelength that is outside the wavelength band of the light radiation of step b) to initiate foaming of the composition. A crosslinker is further provided, including a photodegradable linkage.
