    Abstract: A tiecoat coating composition for use in a coating system for a metallic substrate comprising at least three coating layers is disclosed. The system has a primer coating layer which overlies the metallic substrate, a tiecoat coating layer which overlies the primer coating layer, and a finish coating layer which overlies the tiecoat coating layer. The primer coating layer is formed from a primer composition, the tiecoat coating layer is formed from a tiecoat composition, and the finish coating layer is formed from a finish composition. The primer composition comprises a primer carrier medium and a primer corrosion inhibitor in which the primer inhibitor has a galvanic cathodic mechanism. The finish composition is formulated to give a predetermined surface texture and appearance. The tiecoat composition comprises a tiecoat carrier medium and a tiecoat corrosion inhibitor. The tiecoat corrosion inhibitor has a barrier mechanism.

    Abstract: A method of manufacture of an object 4 from a fibre and or fabric reinforced composite material 12 comprising at least a first layer of a proof coating 10, a first matrix, and one or more fibre and or fabric reinforcement materials, characterised in that the manufacture steps comprise a) creating a first layer of the proof coating 10, b) laying up a mixture of the fibre and or fabric reinforcement material and the composite matrix form a composite element 12, in which (i) step (a) is performed first with the first layer of the proof coating 10 being applied to a mould 2 or support, followed by step (b) with layup being performed on a surface of the first layer of the proof coating 10 of step (a); or (ii) step (b) is performed first with layup being performed on a mould 2 or support, followed by step (a) with the first layer of the proof coating 10 being applied to at least one surface of the composite element 12 of step (b) characterised in that the proof coating 10 is comprised of a second matrix having dispersed therein 2D nanomaterial platelets.

    Abstract: A composition comprising a carrier medium, a first corrosion inhibitor, and a second corrosion inhibitor having a barrier mechanism. The first corrosion inhibitor comprises at least one of an ion exchanged pigment, a silica, a calcium exchanged silica, an oxyaminophosphate salt of magnesium, and/or a mixture of an organic amine, a phosphoric acid and/or an inorganic phosphate and a metal oxide and/or a metal hydroxide, and the second corrosion inhibitor comprises one or more 2D material platelets in which the 2D material platelets comprise: nanoplates of one or more 2D materials and or nanoplates of one or more layered 2D materials and or graphite flakes in which the graphite flakes have one nanoscale dimension and 35 or less layers of atoms.
