The first part may comprise a coating material, the coating material comprising at least one acrylic latex resin, at least one functional filler, and at least one hydrophobic additive. The second part may comprise an activator formulation. The roofing formulation may be applied as a coating to a roofing substrate. A roofing system may comprise at least one roof substrate and a multi-layer coating system. The multi-layer coating system may comprise at least one top layer and at least one core layer disposed between the at least one top layer and the at least one roof substrate.

    Abstract: A roofing membrane includes a plurality of resins present in an amount of 30 wt. % to 100 wt. % based on a total weight of the roofing membrane. The plurality of resins include a first resin and a second resin. The first resin includes a resin present in an amount of 20 wt. % to 80 wt. % based on a total weight of the plurality of resins in the roofing membrane; that is not moisture curable; and that is cured. The second resin includes a resin present in an amount of 20 wt. % to 80 wt. % based on the total weight of the plurality of resins in the roofing membrane; that is moisture curable; that is uncured; and includes silicon. The roofing membrane is flexible. The roofing membrane, when exposed to moisture, exhibits a tear strength that meets ASTM D6878.

    Abstract: A water barrier system to protect a roof surface from environmental conditions is disclosed. In one embodiment, the water barrier system includes an underlayment layer and a liquid applied coating. In use, the underlayment is coupled to the roof surface. Thereafter, the liquid coating is applied to the underlayment to form a barrier layer. The underlayment may be manufactured from a porous material so that the liquid applied coating is at least partially absorbed by the porous underlayment. In this manner, direct application of the liquid coating to the roof surface is eliminated. In one embodiment, the underlayment may be provided with a load bearing component/layer and a coating absorbing component/layer. For flat roof applications, the load bearing component/layer may be provided with increased rigidity for dimensional and installation stability. Meanwhile, for roof penetration applications, the load bearing component/layer may be provided with increased elasticity to enable the underlayment to wrap about the penetration.

    Abstract: A system, including a roofing membrane installed above the roofing substrate, where the roofing membrane includes a polysiloxane layer, where the polysiloxane layer is an uppermost surface of the roofing membrane installed above the roofing substrate, a second layer, where the second layer includes a metal, and a reinforcement layer, where the second layer is between the polysiloxane layer and the reinforcement layer, where the second layer has at least one of the following: a thickness, a type of metal, a percentage of area of the polysiloxane layer covered by the second layer, or any combination thereof, sufficient to reduce by at least 65% a static charge on the polysiloxane layer when compared to a control roofing membrane without the second layer.

    Abstract: A hail resistant roofing system and method includes a roofing substrate such as a shingle or tile or membrane having an array of exposed upwardly projecting features. The features may rise to sharp points and may have side surfaces that are angled relative to the plane of the roofing substrate. The features are spaced and arranged so that a large hail stone capable of damaging the roofing substrate will always impact one or more of the exposed features. This can break up the hail stone into smaller benign pieces or can redirect the energy and direction of the hail stone so that the impact is absorbed without damage to the roofing substrate.
