Abstract: An engine includes: a crankcase; a cover that is connected to the crankcase at a mating surface of the cover inclined toward an inner side in a vehicle width direction in going downward when the engine is mounted to a vehicle body, the cover covering a protruding end of a rotary shaft; and attachment bosses that are formed to be integral with the cover, have a predetermined height from the mating surface, and accept fastening members for fastening the cover to the crankcase. Accordingly, when mounted on a two-wheeled motor vehicle, the engine can restrain protrusion in the vehicle width direction and can be disposed at a position as low as possible with reference to the vehicle.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes: an engine main body demarcating a breather chamber that is partitioned from a crank chamber, disposed above the crank chamber, and has an inlet opening opened toward the crank chamber; a multistage transmission housed in the crank chamber and having speed change gear trains that are respectively supported by a pair of transmission shafts and mesh with each other; and a breather passage disposed above the transmission shafts and extending in an up-down direction from the crank chamber to the inlet opening of the breather chamber, the inlet opening being disposed above a half in a height direction of the breather chamber. Accordingly, the internal combustion engine can suppress the entry of splashed oil into the breather chamber more than ever before.

Abstract: An engine includes: a throttle body that is joined to an intake port and that makes a butterfly valve within an intake path actuate based on driving force of an electric actuator so as to adjust an opening degree of the intake path; a receptor that extends from the throttle body to a direction distant from the throttle body above a crankcase and that receives the electric actuator therein; and a supporting piece that extends from the receptor to the direction distant from the throttle body and that is supported on the crankcase. Accordingly, in the engine, it is possible to alleviate the influence of vehicle vibrations on the throttle body and actuator by enhancing the rigidity with which to support the throttle body and actuator in a simple structure.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a reduction gear including: at one end thereof, a small-diameter gear in mesh with a one-way clutch gear; and at an opposite end thereof, a large-diameter gear in mesh with a drive gear of a starter motor. Abstract: An engine includes: a cylinder head that forms an intake port connected to a combustion chamber; a throttle body that is joined to the intake port and adjusts a degree of an opening of an intake passage by rotating a throttle vale around a rotation axis of a valve shaft, the throttle vale being fixed to the valve shaft; and a case that stores a drive member and supports a drive motor, the drive member being fixed to the valve shaft, the drive motor generating a drive force that is transmitted to the drive member. The case overlaps with the intake port as seen in a side view. Accordingly, in the engine, it is possible to reduce the volume of the intake passage between the throttle valve and the combustion chamber.

Abstract: A cooling structure of an internal combustion engine includes a thermostat provided to switch circulation between a radiator passage and a bypass passage in an engine body, to thereby enable acceleration of early warming up via the bypass passage without impairing the external appearance or increasing the size of the internal combustion engine. The cooling structure also includes an in-cylinder-block fluid passage partitioned up and down in an axial direction of a cylinder axis into an in-cylinder-block upper fluid passage and an in-cylinder-block lower fluid passage by a partition wall. The bypass passage is partially composed of the in-cylinder-bock lower fluid passage.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes: a wall body that is formed on a crankcase to accommodate a generator by sandwiching the generator between the wall body and a generator cover coupled to the crankcase from outside; a casing that includes a casing wall, the casing wall being formed on the crankcase and, at a position apart from the wall body in an axial direction of the crankshaft, facing the wall body with a space contiguous to an outer surface of the crankcase sandwiched between the casing wall and the wall body; and a balancer shaft that has an axis thereof parallel to the rotation axis of the crankshaft, and is rotatably supported by the casing while one end of the balancer shaft protrudes from the casing wall into the space. Accordingly, the engine can reduce its weight by shortening the balancer shaft as much as possible without upsetting weight balance.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes: an oil filter that is mounted to a mounting surface formed on a crankcase and clarifies an oil flowing in; an oil cooler that is disposed on a front side of the crankcase, cools the oil flowing in from the oil filter and returns the oil into a flow path in the crankcase; and a bracket formed on a front wall of the crankcase and having the mounting surface. An outflow port through which the oil flows out toward the oil cooler and an inflow port through which the oil flows in from the oil cooler are disposed in the bracket. Accordingly, in the internal combustion engine, routes of oil passages can be simplified as much as possible.
