    Abstract: A channel segment for a track of a mover device is provided, the channel segment comprising: opposite ends joined by a body forming a magnetic flux pathway between the opposite ends, the magnetic flux pathway being one or more of C-shaped, U-shaped and horseshoe shaped between the opposite ends, the opposite ends forming respective transverse magnetic flux pathways about perpendicular to the magnetic flux pathway; laminations of ferromagnetic material forming the body, the laminations about parallel to the magnetic flux pathway and about perpendicular to the respective transverse magnetic flux pathways; shear pins through the laminations, the shear pins positioned to reduce eddy currents one or more of in and around the shear pins; and a retention mechanism at the opposite ends, the retention mechanism configured to transversely fasten the laminations together at the opposite ends while remaining insulated from each other.

    Abstract: Various propulsion motor topologies are provided. In particular, a propulsion motor is provided which includes: at least one ferromagnetic core having opposite ends joined by a body forming a magnetic flux pathway between the opposite ends; a magnetic flux inducing device to induce a first magnetic flux in the at least one ferromagnetic core along the magnetic flux pathway; and armature coils to induce a varying second magnetic flux in the at least one ferromagnetic core perpendicular to the magnetic flux pathway, to assist inducing a propulsion force perpendicular to the magnetic flux pathway. The at least one ferromagnetic core is shaped to form one or more total forces perpendicular to the propulsion force due to the first magnetic flux.

    Abstract: A track switching arrangement for a track-based guided transportation system, wherein the track switching arrangement forms diverging pathways and enables vehicle-side switching of a vehicle in the guided transportation system. The track switching arrangement includes an upstream pathway; two downstream pathways; and a path switching transition region having the diverging pathways between the upstream pathway and the two downstream pathways. Each of the pathways includes track elements configured to interact with one or more respective bearings of the vehicle to provide levitation to the vehicle and/or guidance for the vehicle.

    Abstract: Various topologies to reduce force ripple for propulsion motors are provided. A propulsion motor comprises: ferro-magnetic cores arranged along a movement axis, the ferromagnetic cores including one or more end ferromagnetic cores located at an end of the movement axis, the one or more end ferromagnetic cores shaped to provide one or more of increasing magnetic permeance or decreasing magnetic reluctance from the end of the movement axis towards a center of the movement axis; armature coils located around the ferromagnetic cores; and at least one field coil around one or more of the armature coils and the ferromagnetic cores.
