Abstract:
Attachment of a USB memory is sensed and whether the USB memory can be recognized or not is determined based on data information output from the USB memory. When the USB memory cannot be recognized, an emulation transition screen is displayed. Thereafter, when an instruction to start transition to an emulation mode is given, an emulation mode transition instruction signal and an IP address of an MFP on a network are output. Receiving the input of the emulation mode transition instruction signal, an emulation mode start-up/end unit starts up the emulation mode.
Abstract:
Determination is made whether acceptance of a job on a USB memory is permitted or not. When in a USB memory job acceptance permitted state, a USB memory job selection display process is executed. When in a USB memory job acceptance prohibited state, a USB memory plural load prohibition display process is executed. When in a USB memory job acceptance prohibited state, the relevant display screen is continuously provided. Therefore, the user is provided with the relevant display screen to be prompted confirmation of the loading of a USB memory
Abstract:
An authentication printing function is performed in a multi function peripheral (MFP). A user transmits a job from a PC to the MFP, and then performs card authentication by bringing cards close to an authentication device. Authenticated-user information is transmitted to the MFP, where the authenticated users are registered. A print job is generated, and a billing scenario is generated in which a charge is allocated among the plurality of authenticated users on the basis of a billing pattern. When the billing scenario is approved by the user, the job is executed, and the authenticated users are each billed for the charge allocated thereto on a per-page or per-set basis, in accordance with the billing scenario. Accordingly, a billing device for an image processing device which can allocate a charge among a plurality of users without the need of complicated operations is provided.

Abstract:
There is provided a portable storage device which makes it possible to largely reduce time that is taken to remove the storage cartridge that is inserted and cannot be handled. A removable hard disk cartridge contains a hard disk and a control circuit for control of writing and reading of data in and from the hard disk in a casing thereof. A main unit includes an automatic loading/ejecting mechanism that receives the hard disk cartridge into a predetermined inner position within the main unit and ejects the same out from the position, and a microprocessor that controls storage operation for storing data in the hard disk cartridge. Before the automatic loading/ejecting mechanism performs a receiving operation, it is determined whether access to contents recorded on the hard disk can be gained, and when the access cannot be gained, the receiving operation by the automatic loading/ejecting mechanism is inhibited.
Abstract:
A document creation system including a document creation apparatus and an image processing apparatus, the document creation apparatus including a requesting portion which requests the image processing apparatus to provide dummy data to be temporarily inserted into the document, and the image processing apparatus including an address analyzer; a dummy data generator which generates dummy data; a transmitter which transmits to the document creation apparatus, the generated dummy data; a job administrator which generates and stores a reserved job about the request; a target data generator which generates target data to be inserted into the document; and a replacing portion which publishes at the specified Web address the target data generated by the target data generator, by replacing the dummy data exiting at the specified Web address with it.
