Abstract:
A method and apparatus may be used for network management via MAC measurements. The measurements may include WTRU uplink traffic loading measurement, and an AP service loading measurement. The measurements may be applicable to at least to layers 1 and 2 as applied to, for example, 802.11k in the context of OFDM and CDMA 2000 systems, but may be applicable to other scenarios as well. A method for determining and transmitting congestion information may be provided for a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system. The method and apparatus may be used for managing congestion when congestion is detected. The method and apparatus may be used in wireless systems that use a Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) mechanism. The methods may be implemented in wireless transmit/receive units (WTRU)s and access points (AP)s of various forms.
Abstract:
A method for use in a station of measuring radio frequency (RF) interference is presented. An average noise power indicator of the STA (STA_ANPI) is determined. A rate of change of the STA_ANPI is monitored to determine an RF interference metric. The RF interference metric is transmitted to another network entity, whereby the another network entity is enabled to perform load balancing based on the RF interference metric.
Abstract:
Several methods are provided for communicating emergency call capability information between a station and an access point (AP) in a wireless local area network. The methods include advertising by the AP of its emergency call capabilities and announcing by the station of its emergency call capabilities. The AP can advertise its emergency call capabilities in a beacon frame, a probe response frame, a reassociation response frame, or a reauthentication response frame. The station can announce its emergency call capabilities in an association request frame, a reassociation request frame, an authentication request frame, or a reauthentication request frame.

Abstract:
A subscriber unit for automatic repeat request mechanisms and related methods are disclosed. The subscriber unit may comprise transmitting a single carrier frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) signals using a plurality of hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) mechanisms. The plurality of hybrid ARQ mechanisms may use a stop and wait architecture. Further, each of the plurality of hybrid ARQ mechanisms may transmit in a different time interval and each time interval includes at least one time slot. The subscriber unit may receive downlink data signals using hybrid ARQ and may receive acknowledgments (ACKs)/negative acknowledgments, wherein the ACK/NAKs may be received in a time period between the downlink transmissions.
