Abstract:
A goal module (78, 198, 298) includes one or more content sessions (80, 82, 200, 202, 204, 224, 300, 318) cooperatively directed toward achieving a projected health management goal. At least one feedback path (48, 86, 140, 142, 210, 234, 312, 322, 410) provides at least one input indicative of a trend in a patient progress toward achieving the projected health management goal. A care plan manager (84) dynamically configures or modifies at least one of the goal module (78, 198, 298) and content sessions (80, 82, 200, 202, 204, 224, 300, 318) based at least on the one input and intervention rules so that the patient's progress toward the projected health management goal is optimized.
Abstract:
In a packet-based transaction processing system, workload is balanced across multiple computer systems. A plurality of packets is received from a plurality of clients over a plurality of communications sessions. Each of the plurality of packets includes a portion of a transaction involving a financial transaction instrument that requires authorization. The plurality of packets are processed to assemble a plurality of transactions. Each of the plurality of transactions is then transmitted to an application server selected from a plurality of servers that provides authorization for the transactions. The server may be selected from the plurality of servers based on a round-robin distribution of the plurality of servers, and additionally, the round-robin distribution may be modified to account for a workload on each of the plurality of servers.
Abstract:
The present application provides a method of calculating DC-DC converter power losses without the requirement for a measurement of input current. The application also describes the use of such a calculation to determine the optimum point for switchover between a single phase mode or dual phase mode in a two phase DC-DC power supply.
Abstract:
A device for retaining splitting forces incurred by a cable stop, tow stop or carriage stop is disclosed that includes a sleeve having a first end, a second end, and a bore extending from the first end to the second end. The bore is sized and configured to retain at least one of the cable stop, tow stop and carriage stop. The sleeve is sized and configured to retain splitting forces transferred from the cable stop, tow stop or carriage stop when the sleeve retains the cable stop, tow stop or carriage stop and is engaged by a cable catch or tow ball.
Abstract:
A breaching apparatus includes an impactor element and a self-contained energy source. The self-contained energy source enables the impactor element to impact a first surface of a structure. The impactor element is configured to transmit a localized shock wave through the structure upon impact. The self-contained energy source is capable of accelerating the impactor element to a velocity sufficient to induce spalling at a second surface of the structure. Multiple breaching apparatuses can be supported by a frame to facilitate simultaneous or successive breaching of the structure. The breaching apparatus can be used in a method to breach a concrete structure.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a wheeled vehicle (10) adapted to be driven in a primary direction or an opposite secondary direction. The vehicle has a vehicle platform (32), and a group of vehicle components rotatably mounted on the platform which are rotatable as a group through 180 degrees relative to the platform. The group of components includes a driver's seat (38), steering wheel (40), foot pedals (42) and instrument console (44). Rotation of the group of components enables the driver's seat (and hence the driver) to face in the primary direction or secondary direction.
Abstract:
Enhancements to a video anticopying process that causes an abnormally low amplitude video signal to be recorded on an illegal copy. The enhancements in one version introduce into the overscan portion of the television picture, just prior to the horizontal or vertical sync signals but in active video, a negative going waveform that appears to the television receiver or videotape recorder to be a sync signal, thereby causing an early horizontal or vertical retrace. One version provides (in the right overscan portion of the picture), a checker pattern of alternating gray and black areas which causes the TV set on which the illegal copy is played to horizontally retrace earlier than normal in selected lines with a consequential horizontal shift of the picture information on those lines. This substantially degrades picture viewability. In another version a gray pattern at the bottom overscan portion of the picture causes vertical picture instability. In another version selected horizontal sync signals are narrowed, causing irregular vertical retraces. Also provided is apparatus for removing or attenuating these enhancements from the video signal, to allow copying.
Abstract:
A system for simultaneously filling a plurality of paintball pods with a reduced incidence of spilling includes a housing, a pod support, a reservoir, and a valve. The pod support includes a plate with at least one aperture configured to maintain at least one paintball pod in a vertical orientation. The pod support is configured to be positioned in the housing. The reservoir includes at least one opening in a bottom wall thereof. The valve selectively and controllably allows or obstructs a flow of paintballs from the reservoir to one or more paintball pods positioned in the pod support. The components of the paintball filling system may be coupled or nested into a single transportable unit.
Abstract:
A high pressure advanced velocity nozzle comprised of concatenated modules, each of which modules contains an interior bore for carrying a primary fluid, each module being coupled to the adjacent succeeding and/or preceding module so as to create an area for a boundary layer to be formed with a secondary fluid for reducing surface tension of the primary fluid flowing within the bore and for increasing the velocity of the primary fluid.
Abstract:
A copy protection system and method enabling storage of copy protection information separately from protected content is disclosed. One embodiment includes a mechanism for playing a recording medium, the recording medium having stored thereon a digital content file and a copy protection information file, the mechanism producing a digital content signal from the digital content file and a copy protection signal from the copy protection file; a digital to analog converter operatively connected to the mechanism for converting the digital content signal to an analog signal; a copy protection detector connected to the mechanism for detecting a copy protection trigger present in the digital content signal; and a signal modifier connected to the copy protection detector for modifying the analog signal to include the copy protection signal in response to detection of the copy protection trigger.
