Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an open distributed unit (O-DU) may generate a unique group identifier (ID) for each user group of one or more user groups, each user group including a group of user equipments (UEs) that share time-frequency resources in a slot but occupy different spatial layers. The O-DU may transmit one or more messages to an open radio unit (O-RU), each message associated with a respective user group including a group ID for the respective user group. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a first capability message to a network entity indicating that the UE may be capable of using a subset of antenna ports of a set of antenna ports for uplink sounding on a wireless band. Further, one or more antenna ports of the set of antenna ports may be available for the uplink sounding and the first capability message may include an indication of the set of antenna ports. The UE may then receive control signaling from the network entity indicating the subset of antenna ports that the UE should use for the uplink sounding based on the first capability message. As such, as part of the uplink sounding on the wireless band, the UE may transmit one or more sounding reference signals (SRSs) via the subset of antenna ports indicated by the control signaling.

Abstract: Pilots suitable for use in MIMO systems and capable of supporting various functions are described. The various types of pilot include—a beacon pilot, a MIMO pilot, a steered reference or steered pilot, and a carrier pilot. The beacon pilot is transmitted from all transmit antennas and may be used for timing and frequency acquisition. The MIMO pilot is transmitted from all transmit antennas but is covered with different orthogonal codes assigned to the transmit antennas. The MIMO pilot may be used for channel estimation. The steered reference is transmitted on specific eigenmodes of a MIMO channel and is user terminal specific. The steered reference may be used for channel estimation. The carrier pilot may be transmitted on designated subbands/antennas and may be used for phase tracking of a carrier signal. Various pilot transmission schemes may be devised based on different combinations of these various types of pilot.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. For instance, a network entity may receive control information indicating a set of candidate geolocations within a target coverage area for the network entity. The network entity may transmit a signal that is beamformed via a set of antenna elements of an antenna array of the network entity in accordance with a set of antenna beamforming weights. The set of antenna beamforming weights may be identified based on a beam pattern performance criterion applied to a set of candidate radiation patterns of a spatial envelope model. The spatial envelope model may be based on a set of directions between the antenna array of the network entity and the set of candidate geolocations as well as a set of pathloss values associated with the set of candidate geolocations.
