    Abstract: A tandem system of metering and donor rolls is used to apply two different adhesives to a fully adhesive backed multilayer sheet to produce variably distributed adhesives and properties. Each of the two adhesives is unique and is cured differently to create a layer of adhesive that has differing adhesive properties on the sheet. A clear adhesive is applied to a top portion of cards before they are cut from the sheet and has a higher tackiness than the adhesive applied to the rest of the cards on the sheet in order to reduce glue buildup on blades cutting the cards from the sheet.

    Abstract: A bookmaking system includes sets of redundant cover printers and book block printers and a binder (or set of binders) for binding a printed cover page, printed by an assigned one of the set of redundant cover printers, and a corresponding set of printed pages for a book block, printed by an assigned one of the set of redundant book block printers, together to form a book. A transport mechanism connects the redundant printers and redundant cover printers with the binder. An assigned one of a plurality of book block buffers, intermediate the book block printers and the binders, stores the set of printed pages until the corresponding printed cover page is ready for binding; and/or an assigned one of a plurality of cover buffers, intermediate the cover printers and the binders, stores the printed cover page until binding can be performed.

    Abstract: A print system and a method for curing marking material on an object using an active transparent display in a three dimensional (3D) object printer are disclosed. For example, the print system includes a plurality of printheads, a curing light source, a movable member to hold an object, an active transparent display and a controller to control movement of the movable member to move the object past the array of printheads, to operate the plurality of printheads to eject the marking material onto the object as the object passes the two-dimensional array of printheads, to control movement of the movable member, to control the active transparent display and to operate the curing light source to apply energy to cure the marking material, wherein the amount of energy that is applied to the object is controlled by a mask that is displayed on the active transparent display.

    Abstract: A process to apply pressure sensitive adhesive to cut sheet media and eliminate a separate release liner. A Silicone release layer is applied during fusing on a top surface of cut media and then UV cured. A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is applied next. The cut sheets are then stacked and a compressive force is applied that transfers the pressure sensitive adhesive from one sheet to another and helps hold the stack together.
