Abstract:
A thermal management system that utilizes a multi-mode valve assembly within the drive train control loop to provide efficient thermal control of the drive train components is provided. The multi-mode valve assembly allows the mode of thermal coupling between the thermal control loop and the various drive train components (e.g., vehicle propulsion motor, gearbox assembly, power electronics subsystem, etc.) to be varied in accordance with present conditions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a battery housing, in particular for an energy accumulator for a hybrid drive, comprising a tubular main body and at least two terminating covers, which are inserted into the main body and each have a cover plate that is offset inwards in the longitudinal direction of the main body and supports housing walls of the main body, wherein the terminating covers are each welded to the main body and all joints of the battery housing are formed without separate connecting elements.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes a traction battery subject to alternating cycling and storage modes and a controller. The controller is programmed to calculate an accumulated degradation for the traction battery based on a degradation profile for the traction battery. The degradation profile defines degradation accumulated over time and may differ based on the mode and temperature. The initial degradation value includes the accumulated degradation for the present mode and at least a portion of the accumulated degradation for the other mode. Degradation is then accumulated according to the degradation profile starting from the initial degradation value. The amount of accumulated degradation from the other mode that is included may vary based on the mode and the accumulated degradation.
Abstract:
A vehicle information providing device has a history information accumulation unit configured to sequentially acquire at least one of driving location information, power consumption information and charging facility information from an in-vehicle device of a vehicle having at least an electric motor as a traveling drive source and accumulate the at least one information as driving history information, an input unit configured to input at least a departure point and a destination point, a planned route acquisition unit configured to acquire a planned route from the departure point to the destination point, and a map memory configured to store a control map in which a route of section and a characteristic value are associated with each other on a basis of the driving history information accumulated in the history information accumulation unit.
Abstract:
A thermal management system is provided that allows efficient thermal communication between a refrigerant-based control circuit and a pair of non-refrigerant-based control circuits, where one of the non-refrigerant-based control circuits is thermally coupled to the vehicle's battery system and the other of the non-refrigerant-based control circuits is thermally coupled to the vehicle's drive train. The refrigerant-based control circuit may be operated either in a heating mode or a cooling mode and is coupled to the vehicle's HVAC system using a refrigerant-air heat exchanger, and to one of the non-refrigerant-based control circuits using a refrigerant-fluid heat exchanger. Multiple diverter valves allow the three thermal control circuits to be arranged in any of a variety of configurations, and to be coupled to any of a variety of radiators, thus allowing the system to efficiently regulate the temperature of the passenger cabin, the battery system and the drive train.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle electrical power distribution system includes a plurality of distribution sub-systems, an electrical power storage sub-system and a plurality of switching devices for selective connection of elements of and loads on the power distribution system to the electrical power storage sub-system. A state transition initiator provides inputs to control system operation of switching devices to change the states of the power distribution system. The state transition initiator has a plurality of positions selection of which can initiate a state transition. The state transition initiator can emulate a four position rotary ignition switch. Fail safe power cutoff switches provide high voltage switching device protection.

Abstract:
A thermal management system is provided for a vehicle having an electric traction motor and a battery pack. The thermal management system includes a battery pack heater configured to transfer heat to the battery pack, a second thermal load heater configured to transfer heat to a second thermal load, and a control system. The second thermal load heater is selectively thermally connectable to the battery pack to transfer heat from the second thermal load heater to the battery pack. When the vehicle is connected to an external energy source and the battery pack is at sufficiently low temperature, the control system is configured to control the temperature of the battery pack by activating the second thermal load heater and thermally connecting the second thermal load heater to the battery pack in response to a failure of the battery pack heater.
