Abstract: Disclosed herein are aqueous coating compositions containing an anionically stabilized polymer, one or more derivatized polyamines, and a volatile base. Coating compositions can farther include one or more additional copolymers, which may or may not be anionically stabilized, and/or additional additives, including pigments, defoamers, pigment dispersing agents, thickeners, surfactants, and combinations thereof. By incorporating a derivatized polyamine, such as an alkoxylated polyamine, the setting time of the coating compositions can be decreased. Also provided are coatings formed from the coating compositions described herein, as well as methods of forming these coatings.

Abstract: Emulsion polymers and coating compositions made therefrom that exhibit exceptional roller stability and stain resistance to both hydrophilic and hydrophobic stains, without sacrificing scrub resistance. The emulsion polymers include, as polymerized units formed at a pH between 3 and 9: a) at least one nonionic or anionic unsaturated monomer in an amount ranging between about 78 wt. % to less than 100 wt. % based on the overall weight of the polymer composition b) one or more strong acid monomer in an amount ranging from about 0.01 wt. % to 2 wt. % based on the overall weight of the polymer composition; and c) at least one lower alkyl acrylate monomer in an amount ranging between about 1 wt. % to 20 wt. % based on the overall weight of the polymer composition.

Abstract: The invention provides: a metallic coating composition and a method for forming the coating film. The metallic coating composition includes: a binder component containing a phosphate group-containing acrylic resin (A), a polyisocyanate compound (B), and a cellulose resin (C); and a vapor-deposition aluminum pigment (D), wherein the vapor-deposition aluminum pigment (D) is present in an amount of 10 to 95 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the total solids content of the binder component, and wherein the phosphate group-containing acrylic resin (A) is a copolymer resin of a monomer mixture consisting of 3 to 48 mass % of a phosphate group-containing polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a1), 6 to 45 mass % of a hydroxy-containing polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a2), and 10 to 91 mass % of other polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a3), based on the total amount of all of the monomers.

Abstract: A resist composition is provided comprising a polymer comprising recurring units (a) having an oxazolidinedione, thioxooxazolidinone, thiazolidinedione or thioxothiazolidinone structure and recurring unit (b1) having an acid labile group-substituted carboxyl group and/or recurring units (b2) having an acid labile group-substituted phenolic hydroxyl group. The resist composition suppresses acid diffusion, exhibits a high resolution, and forms a pattern of satisfactory profile with low edge roughness.

Abstract: Copolymers and latex paint compositions using such copolymers that are heat-age stable and provide good adhesion, block resistance, and hiding all while using lower amounts of pigment are described herein. In one aspect, the heat-age stable compositions include an acrylic, styrene acrylic, vinyl acrylic copolymer or blends thereof including, as additional polymerizable units, at least one polymerizable phosphate surfactant and at least one linear or branched hydrophobic monomer that are both polymerized into the acrylic, styrene acrylic, vinyl acrylic copolymer backbone.
