Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a process for producing a substantially syndiotactic semicrystalline polymer from a vinylarom. monomer. SOLUTION: This process is characterized in that it has, as the constituents, a vinyl compd., a metallocene complex compd. as the catalyst, and at least one cocatalyst selected from among a strong neutral Lewis acid, an ionic compd. having a Lewis acid cation, and an ionic compd. having a Broensted acid as the cation and that the constituents are premixed before being introduced into a polymerizer 6.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a salt of a pharmaceutically active material without lowering a quality, especially fluidity by reacting an acid with a base in a molten liquid so that the acid may be reacted with at least stoichiometric amount of the base in an extruder. SOLUTION: The objective salt of a pharmaceutically active material is obtained by reacting (A) a carboxylic acid with (B) a base in a molten liquid so that the acid may be reacted with at least stoichiometric amount of the base in an extruder. The method is preferably used for production of a salt of a derivative of salicylic acid, e.g. acetylasalicylic acid, or an arylcarboxylic acid, e.g. diclofenac, tolmetin or zomepirac. A basic α-aminocarboxylic acid, especially ricin, a base of an alkali(ne earth) metal, etc., are preferable as the component B. The amount of the above base is at least stoichiometric amount, preferably 1-40mol% excess based on the acid.

A process for the continuous polymerisation of vinyl monomers with formation of vinyl polymers having a molecular weight of Mn = 1000 to 20,000, characterised in that the polymerisation is carried out in an annular gap reactor with a gap of from 0.5 to 10 mm in width, in that the annular gap is delimited on the inside by a rotor, and in that the polymerisation is carried out at a temperature of from 110 to 270 DEG C.
Abstract:
A process for the production of an essentially syndiotactic and partially crystalline polymer (I) containing vinyl aromatic monomers is claimed. (I) is prepared form a reaction mixture containing vinyl aromatic compounds (II), metallocene complexes (III) and one or co-catalysts (IV) consisting of strong, neutral Lewis acid or Bronsted acid cations. The components are mixed prior to addition to the reactor. An apparatus is also claimed comprising a reservoir to contain a mixture of (II) and (IV), a reservoir to contain (III) plus means to dose the contents of the 2 reservoirs to a pre-mixer that is connected to the reactor vessel.

Abstract:
The continuous polymerisation of vinyl monomers by formation of vinyl polymers (I) with a mol. wt. of 1000-20,000 is claimed. The polymerisation is carried out at 110-270 deg. C in a ring slit (slit width 0.5-1.00 mm) that is bounded on the inner side by a rotor. Also claimed is the use of (I) as binding agents for paints, protective coatings, paper coating materials and printing inks. The reaction temp. is 150-270 deg. C and the polymer dispersivity (Mw/Mn) of (I) is less than 3.5. A portion of the volumetric flow is recirculated through the ring slit such that the recycle ratio of recirculated volumetric flow to throughput is 2-35. The rotor promotes reacton by thorough mixing and has a tangential avelocity of 0.5-2 m/s. The reaction is carried out in 0-40% of a solvent (w.r.t. monomer). The mixt. of monomers comprises 60-100 wt.% (meth)acrylic acid esters. Polymerisation initiator is added in a molar ratio of 0.0005:1 to 0.1:1 (w.r.t. monomer).
