Abstract: Polymers (P) in the form of particles with an average diameter (d50) of 0.03-100 microns are obtained by forming an emulsion (E) from monomer(s) (M), water and protective colloid(s) and/or emulsifier(s) under the action of high shearing forces and then polymerizing (E) with a radical initiator in presence of a stable N-oxyl radical. Independent claims are also included for (a) particulate polymers (P) obtained by this process; (b) thermoplastic molding materials (F) containing 1-99 wt.% (P), 1-99 wt.% matrix polymer with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of more than 25 deg C, 0-70 wt.% elastomer component based on a rubber-elastic polymer with a Tg below 0 deg C and 0-50 wt.% conventional additives; (c) a process for the production of (F) by mixing the components in a mixer and processing at 130-350 deg C; and (d) molded products and film made from (F).

Abstract: A hard segment H1 is disclosed with a glass transition temperature of at least 10 DEG C which contains at least one polymerised vinyl aromatic monomer as monomer or one among two or several monomers that can be copolymerised together, at least one cross-linking agent with two or more functional groups of different reactivities and at least one cross-linking agent with two or more functional groups of the same reactivity. The concentration of at least one cross-linking agent varies in the hard segment. A process for producing these segments is also disclosed, as well as graft copolymers which contain these segments, a process for producing these graft copolymers and thermoplastic compounds containing these graft copolymers, moulded bodies, foils, fibres and coatings which contain at least one of the disclosed segments, graft copolymers and thermoplastic compounds.

Abstract: Thermoplastic molding compositions having good heat resistance, weather resistance and dimension stability are produced from polyesters and polycarbonates and/or styrene copolymers. A thermoplastic molding composition comprises (a) 1-99 wt.% polyester (A); (b) 0-98 wt.% polycarbonate (B); (c) 1-80 wt.% graft copolymer (C) consisting of (1) 1-95 wt.% material (C1) with a glass transition temperature of at least 25 deg C and an average particle size of at least 50 nm consisting of (i) 50-99.99 wt.% vinyl aromatic monomer (C11); (ii) 0-49.99 wt.% monomer (C12); (iii) 0.1-25 wt.% crosslinker (C13) selected from 0.1-100 wt.% dihydrocyclopentadienylacrylate and 0-99.99 wt.% of a further crosslinker with two or more functional groups; and (iv) 0-25 wt.% crosslinker (C14) with two or more functional groups; (2) 4.9-98.9 wt.% material (C2) having a glass transition temperature of at least 0 deg C consisting of (I) 50-100 wt.% alkylacrylate (C21); (II) 0-50 wt.% monomer (C22); and (III) 0-20 crosslinker (C13); and (3) 0.1-90 wt.% further grafting component (C3); (d) 0-80 wt.% styrene copolymer (D); (e) 0-30 wt.% rubber (E); (f) 0-60 wt.% fibrous or particulate filler (F); and (g) 0-20 wt.% further additives.
