Abstract: A process is proposed for producing aldehydes and alcohols by hydroformylation of olefins with more than three carbon atoms. The process involves a hydroformylation stage, in which the olefin is hydroformylated at a pressure of 50-1000 bar and a temperature of 50-180 DEG C with the aid of a rhodium catalyst dissolved in an homogeneous reaction medium, and a catalyst recovery stage, in which the rhodium catalyst is extracted. The process involves the following steps: (a) hydroformylation carried out in the presence of a rhodium complex containing a ligand in the form of a phosphorous-free multidentate organic nitrogen compound capable of forming complexes with group VIII metals, said nitrogen compound containing in addition at least one tertiary nitrogen rest which can be protonated with a weak acid; (b) extraction of the product from the hydroformylation stage, where appropriate after separation or partial separation of the aldehydes and alcohols, using an aqueous solution of a distillable acid; (c) heat treatment of the aqueous acid extract in the presence of an organic solvent or solvent mixture which is inert under the hydroformylation conditions, the aqueous acid being distilled off, in order to de-protonate the complex and convert it to the organic phase; and (d) recycling of the organic phase containing the catalyst complex into the hydroformylation stage.

Abstract: The invention relates to a functionalized mixture of oligomers derived from cyclopentene and a method to produce same by transforming oligomer mixtures containing ethylene-unsatured double bonds in one or several reaction steps. According to said method, oligomer mixtures derived from cyclopentene of the formula (I) are used as starting material, wherein n represents an integral number between 1 and 15 and R , R , R and R represent, independently of each other, hydrogen or alkyl. The invention further relates to the use of these oligomer mixtures.

Abstract: Aldehydes are produced by hydroformylation of olefins using a dissolved homogeneous catalyst comprising a special Group VIII metal-polyamine complex, followed by distillation of products with removal of high-boiling components from the sump and recycling of catalyst and excess ligand. A process for the production of aldehydes or aldehydes and alcohols comprises the hydroformylation of olefins at 50-100 deg C and 20-1000 bar in presence of a homogeneous (dissolved) complex catalyst. This catalyst contains a Group VIII metal and a phosphorus-free, multi dentate ligand consisting of a derivatized, essentially water-insoluble polyamine with an average mol.wt of more than 1000 and at least 10 nitrogen atoms. After the reaction, the catalyst complex and excess ligand are returned to the hydroformylation reaction after complete or partial removal of aldehydes and alcohols by distillation, and at least part of the high-boiling component is continuously or at least intermittently removed from the distillation sump. An Independent claim is also included for a hydroformylation catalyst complex with a Group VIII metal as central atom and, as ligands, at least one carbonyl group and at least one polyamine as above.

Abstract: Described is a method of preparing aldehydes, or aldehydes and alcohols, by the hydroformylation of olefins with more than three carbon atoms, the method including a hydroformylation stage in which the olefin is hydroformylated at a pressure of 50 to 1,000 bar and a temperature of 50 to 180 DEG C by means of a rhodium catalyst dissolved in a homogeneous reaction medium and a catalyst-recovery stage in which the rhodium catalyst is extracted using an aqueous solution of a complexing agent, the alcohol and/or alkdehyde is isolated from the extracted hydroformylation products, the aqueous rhodium-containing extract is carbonylated in the presence of carbon monoxide, synthesis gas or a gas mixture containing carbon monoxide at a pressure of 50 to 1,000 bar and a temperature of 50 to 180 DEG C, the carbonylation products separated into an organic phase containing most of the rhodium and an aqueous phase containing the complexing agent and the organic phase is fed back to the hydroformylation stage, the rhodium catalyst obtained from the products of the hydroformylation stage being extracted with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer, without any sulphonic acid groups, capable of forming a complex with rhodium.

Abstract: The invention concerns a process for preparing aldehydes by the hydroformylation of olefins with CO/H2 in the presence of complexes of transition metals of subgroup VIII of the periodic system of elements, which complexes contain phosphorus compounds as ligands. The process is carried out at temperatures of up to 200 DEG C and pressures of up to 700 bar and uses catalysts which contain as ligands lambda , sigma -phosphorus compounds which can act as complexing agents. The invention further concerns novel phosphabenzenes.
