    Abstract: Catalyst systems of the Ziegler-Natta type containing, as active constituents a) a titanium-containing solid component containing titanium, magnesium, halogen and a carboxylic ester (carboxylate) as electron-donor compound, and, as catalyst b) an aluminium compound and c) optionally a further electron-donor compound, where a compound of the formula I Rm1A1 - (OCOR )m2 (I> in which R and R are identical or different and are each a hydrogen radical or a C1-C8 alkyl radical and m1 and m2 are each the number 1 or 2 and they add up to the number 3, is used during preactivation of the titanium-containing component a) with the cocatalyst as aluminium compound b).
