Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing a polymer dispersion by copolymerisation of 20 - 70 weight parts of a monomer mixture comprising c) 2.5 - 100 wt. % of one or more (meth) acrylic acid esters of monovalent, saturated C3-C8 alcohols as monomers A, and 0 - 97.5 wt. % of one or more other ethylenlically unsaturated monomers as monomers B in 100 weight parts of an aqueous solution which contains 5 - 35 wt.- % of a starch or a starch derivative, in emulsion polymerisation in the presence of an initiator containing peroxide groups, whereby the initiator and monomer can be continually dosed. In a first supply period of 5 - 60 minutes a first amount of an initiator is dosed and in a second supply period of 15 - 180 minutes a second amount of an initiator is dosed. The first amount of initiator is greater than the second amount of initiator.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for surface-coating apparatuses and parts of apparatuses for the construction of chemical installations, for example apparatus, container and reactor walls, discharging devices, fittings, pumps, filters, compressors, centrifuges, columns, heat exchangers, dryers, reducing machines, built-in parts, packing and mixing mechanisms. The method is characterised in that bumps with an average height of 100 nm to 50 mu m are produced on the surface to be coated, at average intervals of 100 nm to 100 mu m, before the surface is coated by currentlessly depositing a layer of metal or a layer of a metal-polymer-dispersion using a galvanisation bath containing a metal electrolyte, a reduction agent and optionally, a polymer or polymer mixture to be deposited, in dispersed form.
Abstract:
Aqueous dye preparation, contains dye-containing polymer based on hydrophobic monomers and amphiphilic copolymer based on hydrophobic monomers, monomers with basic or quaternary nitrogen and other monomers. Aqueous dye preparations containing: (i) dye-containing polymer(s) (PF) in the form of dispersed particles based on monomers (M1) comprising at least 50 wt% mono-unsaturated, hydrophobic monomer(s) (A) with a water solubility of 0.01-60 g/l and containing oil-soluble dye(s) in molecular dispersion; and (ii) amphiphilic copolymer(s) (CP) based on: (a) hydrophobic monomer(s); (b) monomer(s) with basic nitrogen atoms (b1) and/or monomers with quaternary N atoms (b2); and (c) other comonomer(s). Independent claims are also included for: (1) dye-containing polymer powders obtained by drying these preparations; (2) a method for dyeing paper by adding dye-containing polymer (PF) and a statistical copolymer (CP), or an aqueous preparation or dried polymer powder as described above, to paper pulp and then removing water.
Abstract:
A polymer dispersion is prepared by copolymerization of from 20 to 70 parts by weight of a monomer mixture comprisinga) from 2.5 to 100% by weight of one or more (meth)acrylates of monohydric, saturated C3-C8-alcohols as monomers A andb) from 0 to 97.5% by weight of one or more further ethylenically unsaturated monomers as monomers Bin 100 parts by weight of an aqueous solution which contains from 5 to 35% by weight of a starch or of a starch derivative by emulsion polymerization in the presence of an initiator containing peroxide groups, by a process in which the initiator and monomers are metered in continuously and wherein, a first amount of initiator is metered in over a first feed period of from 5 to 60 minutes and a second amount of initiator is metered in over a second feed period of from 15 to 180 minutes, the first amount of initiator being greater than the second amount of initiator.
Abstract:
A mixture of A) an aqueous polymer dispersion (emulsion polymer for short) obtainable by emulsion polymerization and B) a polymer which is soluble in water (at 20° C., 1 bar), obtainable by free radical polymerization and composed of at least 5% by weight of ethylenically unsaturated acids is used in paper coating slips.
