Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigmented coating composition rich in mechanical stability which is essentially free from solvents and excels in weatherability under the conditions of UV irradiation, frost and the like. SOLUTION: The water-based pigmented coating composition comprises (i) an aqueous binder formulation which has a minimum film formation temperature of not higher than 5 deg.C and is based on an aqueous polymer dispersion of one or more polymers P composed of an alkyl acrylate and an alkyl methacrylate as the major components and an unsaturated minor component having a polar group selected from a carboxylic acid, a sulfonic acid, a carboxylic acid amide, a urea group and the like as component I; (ii) one or more inorganic particulate pigments as component II; (iii) if desired, inorganic particulate fillers as component III; and (iv) the auxiliaries typical of coating material compositions, and comprises less than 0.05 mass %, based on the polymer P in the coating material composition, photopolymerization initiator with a pigment volume concentration of more than 20.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily and reproducibly provide a coating composition for making a barely wettable surface, capable of being used for making a stable and barely wettable coating film. SOLUTION: This composition for making the barely wettable surface is characterized in that the composition contains (i) at least one kind of fine powder particles having hydrophobic surfaces and porous structures characterized by at least 1 m2/g BET surface area measured according to DIN 66131, and (ii) at least one kind of a film-forming binder characterized by
Abstract:
The invention relates to compounds with carbodiimide units and carboxyl or carboxylate groups (compounds V), which are derived from a) aliphatic or araliphatic C4 to C20 polyisocyanates (component a) b) hydroxycarboxylic acids or hydroxycarboxylic acid salts (component b), c) optionally additional compounds which bear groups and which can react with isocyanate groups in an addition reaction (component c) and d) optionally other isocyanates (component d). In the main, the carbodiimide units are derived exclusively from the isocyanate groups of component (a).
Abstract:
An aqueous dispersion of a polymer, formed from radically polymerisable compounds (monomers), is characterised in that the dispersed polymer particles contain compounds with carbodimide groups (carbodiimides for short) and that the carbodimides are not covalently bonded to the polymer by means of radical copolymerisation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aqueous synthetic resin preparation, which essentially contains a synthetic resin A, a metal cation with a charge number of 2 to 4, dispersing agents, water and fine-particle fillers as well as optionally acetophenone or benzophenone derivatives, whereby said synthetic resin A is produced by radically initiated aqueous emulsion polymerisation of monomers in the presence of 0.01 to 3 parts by weight of an external polymerisation initiator, based on 100 parts by weight of the monomer mixture.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for surface-coating apparatuses and parts of apparatuses for the construction of chemical installations, for example apparatus, container and reactor walls, discharging devices, fittings, pumps, filters, compressors, centrifuges, columns, heat exchangers, dryers, reducing machines, built-in parts, packing and mixing mechanisms. The method is characterised in that bumps with an average height of 100 nm to 50 mu m are produced on the surface to be coated, at average intervals of 100 nm to 100 mu m, before the surface is coated by currentlessly depositing a layer of metal or a layer of a metal-polymer-dispersion using a galvanisation bath containing a metal electrolyte, a reduction agent and optionally, a polymer or polymer mixture to be deposited, in dispersed form.
