    Abstract: In the production of magnetic storage plates, substrate plates of metal are subjected to a number of treatments in baths for cleaning, activating and coating the plate surface. For the simultaneous treatment of a multiplicity of plates, use is made of a rack having one or more rods (1), on which a plurality of substrate plates (2) are arrnaged in series through their central opening and which are releasibly fastened at their ends in securing means (3). For rinsing the plates after each treatment, the rack is provided with a shower device (4), which is arranged above the rods and is movably connected to a water connection. Conveying and lifting devices bring the rack to the bath tanks and into the treatment bath.

    Abstract: Method of surface treating Ni-coated Al substrates to produce a polished and texture surface of roughness depth Rt of 0.04-0.1um, a average roughness depth R2 of 0.04-0.1um and an average roughness value Ra of 0.0065-0.0095, consists of lap-polishing both sides of the substrate with a polishing material to remove 2-4um of the surface layer and produce an average roughness value of 0.04-0.06um. Without removing the substrate from the polishing machine, a second process using a polishing material having 3-10 times the grain size is effected to produce an essentially paddle wheel structured texture.

    Abstract: 1420692 Magnetic recording tape BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 27 April 1973 [28 April 1972] 20074/73 Heading B2E A thermostable rigid base plated with a firmly adhering film of ferromagnetic metallic material containing cobalt has applied thereto a layer from a solution of at least one film-forming organic coating resin in a volatile solvent, the layer in dried and unbaked condition being not more than 3000A thick, and drying and baking being effected at 200-300‹C for 1-15 hours. Specified resins are polycarbonates, polyurethanes, acrylic polymers, polyglycidal ethers and esters cured with polyamines and polyaminoamides and phenol-amine resins. The ferromagnetic metal may be Co-P, Co-B, Co- Ni, Co-Fe-Ni alloys. Ketones, ethers and hydrocarbons are typical volatile solvents.
