    Abstract: A reactor (1) of high cylindrical construction for continuously carrying out gas-liquid, liquid-liquid or gas-liquid-solid reactions, provided with a downward-directed jet nozzle (2) via which the starting materials and the reaction mixture are fed in and which is located in the upper region of the reactor, and provided with an offtake (3), preferably in the lower region of the reactor, via which the reaction mixture is conveyed via an external circuit back to the jet nozzle (2) by means of a pump (P), wherein a guide tube (4) which extends essentially over the total length of the reactor (1) with the exception of the reactor ends and has a cross-sectional area in the range from one tenth to one half of the cross-sectional area of the reactor (1) is located concentrically in the reactor (1), and the jet nozzle (2) is located above the upper end of the guide tube (4), preferably at a distance of from one eighth of the guide tube diameter to one guide tube diameter, or projects into the guide tube (4) to a depth up to a plurality of guide tube diameters is proposed. A heat exchanger, in particular a heat exchanger having heat exchange tubes (6), preferably running parallel to the guide tube, welded in between plates (5), is integrated into the annular space.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a vertical cylinder reactor (1) for carrying out gas-liquid, liquid-liquid or gas-liquid-solid chemical reactions. Said reactor comprises a nozzle (2) which is arranged in the upper portion of the reactor and which is directed downwards and by way of which the educts and the reaction mixture are supplied. The reactor further comprises a discharge (3), preferably in the lower portion of the reactor, through which the reaction mixture can be re-fed to the nozzle (2) via an exterior circuit by way of a pump (P). A concentric guide tube is arranged in the reactor which substantially extends across the entire length of the reactor (1) except the reactor ends. Said guide tube has a cross-sectional area in the range of a tenth to half of the cross-sectional area of the reactor (1). The nozzle is arranged above the upper end of the guide tube (4), preferably in a distance of an eighth to a full cross-sectional area of the guide tube or it dips into the guide tube (4) in a depth of up to several cross-sectional areas of the guide tube. A heat exchanger is integrated into the annulus, especially a heat exchanger with heat exchanger tubes (6) welded between bottoms (6). Said tubes are preferably arranged parallel to the guide tube.

    Abstract: Production of polyether polyols comprises use of a multi-metal cyanide complex catalyst in a tall cylindrical reactor having a downward facing spray nozzle in the upper reactor portion, through which the educts and reaction mixture are fed and an outlet, preferably in the lower portion of the reactor to recirculate the reaction mixture via an external circuit and equalizing reservoir. A process for the production of polyether polyols (I) by reaction of diols or polyols with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide in the presence of a multi-metal cyanide complex catalyst (II) comprises carrying out the reaction in a tall cylindrical reactor having a downward facing spray nozzle in the upper reactor portion, through which the educts and reaction mixture are fed, and an outlet, preferably in the lower portion of the reactor, through which the reaction mixture is fed by means of a pump through an external circuit via an equalizing reservoir to the spray nozzle. The external circuit comprises a concentric pipe stretching the entire length of the reactor excluding the reactor ends and contains a heat exchanger integrated within the annulus.
