    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for hydrogenating ethylenically unsaturated double bonds in polymers P by reacting an aqueous dispersion of at least one polymer P with hydrogen in the presence of at least one hydrogenation catalyst comprising at least one transition metal selected from rhodium and/or ruthenium and at least one nonionic phosphorus compound capable of forming a coordinative compound with the transition metal, which comprises incorporating the hydrogenation catalyst into the aqueous dispersion of the polymer P without adding a solvent. The present invention also relates to the aqueous dispersions of the hydrogenated polymers P obtainable by this process and to coating compositions comprising such dispersions.

    Abstract: A process for preparing an aqueous styrene-butadiene polymer dispersion by free-radical aqueous emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture M comprising styrene, butadiene, and if desired up to 30% by weight, based on 100% by weight of monomers, of ethylenically unsaturated comonomers other than styrene and butadiene; in a polymerization vessel by a monomer feed technique in the presence of a regulator system containing, based on 100% by weight of monomers, from 0.02 to 0.5% by weight of at least one hydrocarbon HC having from 6 to 20 carbon atoms, selected from compounds which on abstraction of a hydrogen atom form a pentadienyl radical or 1-phenylallyl radical, and alpha-methylstyrene dimer, and from 0.3 to 2% by weight of an organic compound S containing at least one SH group wherein at least 30%, preferably at least 50%, in particular at least 80%, and with particular preference the entirety (or >95%) of hydrocarbon HC is included in the initial charge to the polymerization vessel.

    Abstract: Procedimiento para la elaboración de una dispersión polimérica acuosa estirol-butadieno mediante polimerización radical acuosa por emulsión de una mezcla monomérica M, que contiene - estirol, - butadieno y eventualmente - hasta un 30% en peso, relativo al 100% en peso del monómero, de comonómeros etilénicamente insaturados distintos de estirol y butadieno; en un recipiente de polimerización tras un procedimiento de alimentación de monómeros en presencia de un sistema regulador que contiene, relativo al 100% en peso de los monómeros, - del 0, 02 al 0, 5% en peso de al menos un hidrocarburo KW con de 6 a 20 átomos de carbono, que se selecciona entre compuestos, que por abstracción de un átomo de hidrógeno forman un radical pentadienílico o 1-fenilalílico, y dímero de -metilestirol, así como - del 0, 3 al 2% en peso de un compuesto orgánico S conteniendo al menos un grupo SH, y que se caracteriza porque se aporta al recipiente de polimerización al menos un 30%, preferentemente al menos un 50%, especialmente al menos un 80% y de manera especialmente preferida el total (y/o >95%) de hidrocarburo KW.
