Abstract: Aqueous dispersions for hydrolysis resistant coatings containing a polyurethane synthesized from di isocyanates, diols, various monomers, if required further different monovalent compounds and different monovalent compounds from monomers. Aqueous dispersions for hydrolysis resistant coatings containing a polyurethane synthesized from (a) di isocyanates,(b) diols, of which (b1) 10-100 mole% on the diol (b) have a molecular weight of 500-5000 g/mole, and (b2) 0-90 mole% on diol (b) having a molecular weight of 60-500 g/mole, (c) various monomers from monomers (a) and (b), having at least one isocyanate group or at least one group reactive to isocyanates, and at least one hydrophilic group, or a potentially hydrophilic group, imparting water dispersibility to the polyurethane, (d) if required further different monovalent compounds from (a) and (b) having reactive groups, i.e. alcoholic OH groups, primary or secondary amine groups, or isocyanate groups, and (e) if required different monovalent compounds from monomers (a) and (b) containing a reactive group, obtained by reaction of monomers a, b, and c, and optionally d and e in the presence of organometallic catalysts at a temperature of 100 -180 degrees C and mean reaction times of 1-20 hours. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for preparation of the aqueous dispersions containing a polyurethane as under (a) to (e) above; (2) an object coated, bonded, or impregnated with the aqueous dispersion; (3) a process for coating objects in metal, synthetic plastic, paper, textiles, leather, and wood, by application of a film from an aqueous dispersion and drying of the film; (4) a process for adhesive bonding of objects in metal, synthetic plastic, paper, textiles, leather, or wood, in which an aqueous dispersion is applied as a film, and is joined to another object before or after drying; and (5) a process for impregnation of objects in textiles, leather. or paper, in which the object is steeped in the aqueous solution and dried.
