Abstract: Improved process for the preparation of granular N-alkylammoniumacetonitrile salts Iwhere R1 to R5 are hydrogen or organic radicals, and Y- is a sulfate or hydrogensulfate anion,from an aqueous solution of the compound IIwhere R6 is C1- to C4-alkyl,which comprises evaporating this aqueous solution at a temperature of from 80° C. to 250° C. and a pressure of from 10 mbar to 2 bar to give a melt, then allowing the melt to solidify, where, during or following the evaporation, customary carrier materials and/or auxiliaries can be added, and the resulting solidified compound I is converted into the desired granular form.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of a compound having the structure of Formula (I) wherein A, R1, R2, R3, Y and Z are as defined in the disclosure. The process includes reacting a heterocyclic amine with a monoaldehyde or a dialdehyde in a pH range of from about 8 to 14 and then quaternizing the soreacted heterocyclic amine with an alkylating agent at a pH of not less than about 2. The use of a pH control substantially prevents formation of an undesirable protonated intermediate.

Abstract: Textile detergent formulation, containing(A) from 0.1 to 10 wt % of quaternized glycine nitriles,(B) from 0.5 to 40 wt % of bleaches in the form of peroxo compounds and/or peracids,(C) from 0.5 to 50 wt % of non-ionic and/or anionic surfactants and(D) from 5 to 85 wt % of compounds that are capable of sequestering calcium and/or magnesium ions.This formulation is suitable for domestic and commercial laundering of textiles in a dosage of more than 2 g per liter of washing liquor, particularly when using a goods-to-liquor ratio of from 1:10 to 1:2.

Abstract: The invention relates to granular, coated N-alkylammonium acetonitrile salts of general formula (I) R2R3N R1-CR4R5-CN+Y-, wherein R1 means a C1- to C24- alkyl group which can be interrupted by non-adjacent oxygen atoms or can additionally carry hydroxyl groups, a C4- to C24-cycloalkyl group, a C7- to C24 alkaryl group or a grouping of formula -CR4R5-CN; R2 and R3 each have, independently of each other, the meaning of R1 or together represent, in the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, a saturated four to nine-membered ri ng with at least one C-atom and at least one other hetero atom from the followi ng group: oxygen, sulphur and nitrogen; R4 and R5 each mean, independently of each other, hydrogen, a C1- to C24 alkyl group which can be interrupted by n on- adjacent oxygen atoms or can additionally carry hydroxyl groups, a C4- to C2 4- cycloalkyl group or a C7- to C24-alkaryl group; and Y represents a sulphate or hydrogen sulphate anion in the appropriate stoichiometric quantity; which ar e coated with a material selected from the following group: organic, inorganic , hydrophilic and hydrophobic substances.

The novel compounds are those of the formula I where R is unsubstituted or C1-C12-alkyl-substituted C1-C8-alkylene or C2-C8-alkenylene, R is linear or branched C8-C350-alkyl or C8-C350-alkenyl, R and R , independently of one another, are each H, methyl or ethyl and together have not more than 2 carbon atoms, R is H, M , SO3H, SO3 M , OPO3H, OPO3 M or C(O)R , M is NH4 , an alkali metal ion or 0.5 alkaline earth metal ion, R is a linear C2- to C10-hydrocarbon radical substituted by at least one hydrophilic group and y and z, independently of one another, are each an integer from 0 to 50, and R is H if y is 0, and R is H if z is 0.
